Halle Bailey Was Overwhelmed by Fans’ Love
The release of The Little Mermaid has become a turning point for actor Halle Bailey. Ever since the release of the movie Bailey has been in the spotlight winning over the hearts of her fans across the globe.
After all the controversy over her casting in the movie, Bailey has recently opened up about her experience with fans’ love. Talking about this in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Bailey said that she was both shocked and overwhelmed by seeing all the love that fans were pouring on her.
“A little. It was a bit of a whirlwind and overwhelming, every day in another city with fans waiting outside our hotels, following us to each interview. I’d never experienced anything like it. But it’s really cool getting to meet all of these people around the world, especially the babies, which makes me so happy” Bailey said.
As fans continue to pour their love on Bailey the actor seems to be nothing but grateful for all of it despite all the blackish that she had to face.
Halle Bailey Faced Racist Blackish for Her Role in The Little Mermaid
Ever since the casting announcement of Halle Bailey in 2019 as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, the actor had to face a round of racist remarks through different social media channels. While many loved the new Ariel after the release of the movie’s first trailer in 2022, many went out to troll the actor for being black.
Not only this #NotMyAriel started trending on Twitter along with many trolling Bailey for her appearance on her social media. However, Bailey kept her cool all the time and managed everything very professionally. Talking about this in an interview with The Face, Baliey said “As a Black person, you just expect it and it’s not really a shock anymore. When [Chlöe and I] first signed to Parkwood, [Beyoncé] was always like: ’I never read my comments. Don’t ever read the comments.’ Honestly, when the teaser came out, I was at the D23 Expo and I was so happy. I didn’t see any of the negativity.”
Talking about this Bailey also said that her family was very supportive of her during the time and helped her overcome all the negativity.
