“It was bad, the seventh one really got me”: Sean Evans’ ‘Hot Ones’ Landed One Celebrity in Hospital, Who Had a Painful Recovery Afterwards
Sean Evans has been hosting Hot Ones since 2015. He’s had a wide range of stars appear on the series over the years, from Paul Rudd to Halle Berry to Gordon Ramsay. The show’s success is majorly attributed to Evans, especially given his interview style and how he always keeps things positive, no matter how hard things appear to be for the guests.
Sean Evans Showed Concern For Chrissy Teigen During Her Hot Ones Episode
Talking about Sean Evans’ most worrisome experience on the show, the one which took place alongside Chrissy Teigen, who was showing major courage throughout the episode is hard to miss. The episode is titled, Chrissy Teigen Gets Drunk on Spicy Wings, and it sounds apt seeing her struggles throughout her battle with the wings.
Speaking about her memorable experience on Hot Ones, Teigen revealed that “I had just done Hot Ones and I had to go to the doctor after – the hospital, as people call it,” “It was bad, the seventh one really got me.”
Not only was Teigen battling acid reflux for the next couple of days, but her tongue was also in rough shape, completely patched up because of the hot sauces. Recalling her recovery journey the actress shared,
“I had to go to the hospital, and then my tongue was stripped, they said. I don’t even know what that means. It was, like, bloody and stripped and I had acid reflux for a long time.”
Nonetheless, she was far from the only guest to struggle after the show, and that’s still taking place with current guests.
Sean Evans On Avoiding Spicy Food Beyond Shooting
Even Hot Ones host Sean Evans has his limits when it comes to eating spicy foods. During the promotion of one of his partnerships, Evans opened up about the difference in his on-screen and off-screen eating habits. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the star said,
“When it comes to spicy food, because of the show, it makes me take care of myself a little bit more outside of that show. So a lot of salads, a lot of juice [and] a lot of cereal when I’m not doing it.”
Since Evans has been well acquainted with spicy food for a long time doesn’t have that panic when it comes to trying out a new dish of that caliber. He added,
“We’ve been doing this now for like, seven years, couple hundred episodes. So when I’m off the clock, keep the TUMS handy and try to avoid the super spicy stuff.”
Evans is open to trying new super hot dishes because he knows what will happen next so there aren’t many surprise elements.
