From George Clooney to Robert Pattinson, over the past couple of decades, many actors have donned the Batsuit. Batman is one of the most beloved DC comic characters and somehow every single adaptation of the Caped Crusader’s adventures is received with the same enthusiasm as the one before it.

After Ben Affleck bid farewell to the role of Batman, Matt Reeves began developing a completely new version of the superhero with Robert Pattinson in mind. While auditioning for Batman, actors are asked to wear the Batsuit that is the closest to their size on the basis of the size of the head mask. Despite Matt Reeves developing the character with Robert Pattinson in mind, when the Harry Potter star put on the suit and began giving his audition, he was sure that he would not be chosen because of how much he was sweating.

In an interview with GQ in which he was breaking his most iconic characters, Pattinson recounted his experience of wearing what he assumed was George Clooney’s Batman suit. When the interviewer asked if his head was locked, the Twilight star said:

“It’s locked and you’re boiling hot. absolutely boiling. If you have any lights on you, you’re just pouring sweat, and then as I was doing it, and you’re also doing an audition, so I’m kind of terrified anyway, and people are saying, “What can we do about this sweat?” And you’re thinking “If I don’t stop sweating, I’m not gonna get the part”, and so you’re trying to shut down your body a little bit.”

Evidently, wearing the Batsuit can put a lot of pressure on one as it can lead to a lot of sweating. Thankfully, Pattinson made it through and got the role. Not only did he get the role but also nailed it as the movie went on to become the seventh highest-grossing film.

“The other thing that I remember too, which is cool because it informed the movie, is at the end of that costume test, when you came and you put on the eye makeup and began the transformation, that moment for me, that is when I thought, oh my god, [the character] is so you.”
