“It was intimidating at first”: Rachel McAdams Didn’t Dare Confide in Harrison Ford About Her Obsession With His Most Celebrated Role
Harrison Ford is known for his larger-than-life stardom. The official face of one of the longest-running franchises in the history of cinema, Harrison Ford can easily call the adventure-drama franchise his second home. The 80-year-old actor has been associated with Indiana Jones for more than four decades.
Recently, Harrison Ford retired from the Indiana Jones franchise after almost forty years. He was seen reprising his character for the last time in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which was released on June 30, 2023, across the globe.
Rachel McAdams On Working With The Legendary Actor Harrison Ford
It is very common for anyone to get intimidated by the superstardom of Harrison Ford. The Notebook actor Rachel McAdams was a part of the Harrison Ford starrer movie Morning Glory. It was like a dream come true for the actor to work alongside one of her favorite actors.
During an interview with the media outlet Access Hollywood, Rachel McAdams spoke about her experience working with the Indiana Jones legend. She said-
“He is so much fun to work with and very intimidating at first. I watched him growing up, I loved ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was like my favorite movie of all time, not just my favorite Harrison Ford movie, but my favorite movie of all time. And so it was intimidating at first.”
While talking to Access Hollywood, the About Time actor said how she had been a great fan of the Star Wars actor. She even went on to recall a scene where she had to behave like a die-hard fan of Harrison Ford from the 2010 released movie. Rachel McAdams said-
“I didn’t bring it up. I still haven’t mentioned that. That scene where I have to fawn all over him in the elevator actually came quite easily, so I didn’t even have to do much acting. But he’s very sweet and he’s actually kind of a real teddy bear and lovely to work with.”
Rachel McAdams played the role of television producer Becky in Morning Glory. The movie revolves around Becky, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of reviving a morning show with two cranky show hosts played by Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton.
Harrison Ford On Retiring From The Indiana Jones Franchise
With the fifth installment of Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford hung his fedora, leather jacket, and whip at the door of the adventure drama franchise. The actor reprised his role in Indiana Jones and the Dial Of The Destiny for one last time. Harrison Ford went on to become one of the most loved characters in the history of cinema with the portrayal of Indian Jones for over forty years. He had been associated with the franchise ever since its inception in 1981.
During the promotion of the fifth installment of Indiana Jones, the actor joked about how he needs to rest now. He said-
“Is it not evident? I need to sit down and rest a little bit. I love to work, and I love this character, and I love what it brought into my life, and that’s all I can say, I wanted to round up the story” with this new installment. Everything has come together to support me in my old age, and I love the work. So I just want to work and I want to tell stories, good stories, and I have been so lucky in my life to have that opportunity.”

While talking about his age and how the CGI brought back a better-looking and young Indiana Jones in the fifth installment, Harrison Ford went on to mention-
“I know that that is my face. It’s not a kind of Photoshop magic, that’s what I looked like 35 years ago. … I think it was used very skillfully, so I’m very happy with it. But I don’t look back and say, ‘I wish I was that guy again,’ because I don’t. I’m happy to be, you know what? I’m really happy with my age — I love being older. It was great to be young, but s— fire, I could be dead, and I’m still working.”
Harrison Ford’s die-hard fans could not wait to witness his magic as the curious archeologist who knew about every civilization and was terrified of snakes for the last time on the screen.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is currently running in the theaters.
