“It was one of the best things that happened”: Antonio Banderas Claims Getting Heart Attack Changed His Life Perspective, Stopped Focusing On Meaningless Things
Actor Antonio Banderas says the heart attack he suffered from in 2017 changed his perspective on life. The actor says the incident was one of the best things that ever happened in his life as it opened his eyes and helped in realizing his priorities. He has a daughter named Stella, whom he shares with actress Melanie Griffith. The actor explained that he was focusing on meaningless things until that point and after the incident, his priorities changed. Antonio Banderas is well-known for appearing in hits like Official Competition (2021), Pain And Glory (2019), and Spy Kids (2001); he also voiced many animated movies.
Antonio Banderas had a heart attack in 2017
Actor Antonio Banderas, 62, suffered a heart attack in January 2017. Fortunately, his girlfriend Nicole Kimpel was there and she saved his life by quickly giving him an aspirin. He later said it wasn’t serious and didn’t cause any serious damage, however, he did undergo surgery to insert three stents into his arteries. “It hasn’t been as dramatic as some have written,” he said in March 2017. However, his heart attack helped in changing his perspective in a positive way.
The actor said the heart attack was one of the best things that ever happened in his life
Antonio Banderas recently talked to PageSix about his heart attack. He revealed that the incident helped him reprioritize the important things in life. He said,
“I realized that it probably was one of the best things that ever happened in my life because the things that were not important and I was worried every day about them, meaningless. I was like, why am I worried about that if I’m going to die? I knew always [that I was going to die], but now I know. I’ve seen it right here.”
The actor explained that his priorities are his daughter Stella, whom he shares with Melanie Griffith, his friends, family, and his “vocation as an actor.” He revealed that he stopped thinking about “things that I thought were important before but weren’t really.”

Antonio Banderas is a positive person
The actor said he had a lot of demotivating moments in his life, too, but they don’t last long because he believes he is “a very positive person by nature.” He said, “My depression last five minutes, I bounce back immediately.”
The actor recently has lent his voice once again for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish as the main character, Puss. In the movie, Puss discovers that he has lived eight lives out of his nine lives and embarks on a quest to find the mythical last wish.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will hit the theaters on December 21.
