“It was very ominous and it did not feel good”: Kelly Ripa Reveals Distressing Experience With Late Regis Philbin in Her First Live Show, Says She Felt Horrible
Kelly Ripa is an American actress and talk show host. Many might remember her and the late Regis Philbin as one of the most iconic pairs in television history but the truth lies far away from that. The iconic duo had incredible chemistry and they hosted one of the best talk shows for over a better part of the decade. However, in a recent interview, Kelly Ripa looked back at a time when things were not so smooth with her former co-host.
Kelly Ripa recalled her early days with former host Regis Philbin
The talk show Live! With Regis and Kelly ran from 2001 to late 2011 when Regis Philbin took retirement from the show. The show was later renamed Live! With Kelly. Ripa recalled her early days on the show and said, they were “the hardest chapter to write.” The actress further added, “It took years to earn my place there and earn things that are routinely given to the men I worked with.” These included basic necessities like a chamber and a place where she can put her computer.
The Casual teasing from Regis Philbin pushed her sometimes over the edge
Kelly Ripa recalled a specific incident where she showed up to the set with her makeup and hair person. It is not unusual for actors and TV personalities to show up with these people on a set. Philbin was talking to Michael Gelman, the executive producer of the show. Right before she took to the stage, Philbin called her out and said, “Uh-oh, Gelman, it’s got an entourage.” Although she knew he was just trying to be funny and didn’t mean it, Ripa said that it felt horrible at the moment.
She continued that she knew it wasn’t fair to him as he did not want a co-host. But, she also knew this kind of action was also not fair to her either.
The talk show host also shared a ton of happy moments with her former co-host. She revealed that outside of the studio he was a different person altogether and they had a merry time in each other’s companies.
