Talking about the movie which premiered in 2007, the actor said to The Hollywood Reporter that he knows that the movie did well for Sony. A lot of people were not happy but said that the director, Sam Raimi, is very talented. He further said in the interview,

“I remember one time I was in ninth unit. (Laughs.) Ninth unit? It’s like he’s running a small country. This summer, there was a movie like that, where people are just slamming a big studio movie. I would love to see anyone who’s slamming one of those movies try to fit in Sam Raimi’s position. He was like the president of a small country — by the way, it had the gross national income of a small country, too. I have huge respect for him. I think, on the whole, he did such a fantastic job [on that trilogy].”

Was Topher Grace supposed to play Peter Parker?

A recent tweet from an insider of the industry gained attention with the fact that Topher Grace was a better choice to play Peter Parker a.k.a., Spider-Man, rather than Tobey Maguire, who starred in the movie as the title character.

The tweet in no time gained a lot of replies from fans across the world with a user stating, “I’ve always said Topher Grace was born to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man and it’s a shame he never got a chance.”  A second user wrote, “I think that was the point of casting him as Venom in Spider-Man 3. A user online wrote, “Considering Raimi’s Eddie is a reflection of Peter, you ain’t far off.” The Twitter user shared, “It’s so strange to me they went with Topher Grace as Eddie Brock. I feel like he would’ve been better suited as Peter tbh.”

Some of them wrote that Sam Raimi’s Eddie Brock is simply a dark version of Spider-Man, which makes sense for the director to hire Topher Grace as Venom. They said, “Yes, but that’s the point of their version. They were trying to make Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3 be a dark reflection of Peter Parker. Interesting concept, needed better execution.”

There have been no reports that Topher Grace was being considered for the part of Peter Parker, but people were impressed with his Eddie Brock portrayal and appreciated him.
