“It’s belittling”: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively Banned All Male Pronouns Like ‘Bossy’ From Their Home So Their Kids Don’t See Women as Evil
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have been one of the most famous couples in Hollywood since they married in 2012, and they have three adorable daughters named James, Inez, and Betty. Additionally, the power couple is expecting baby number four, and the Gossip Girl actress shared a picture of her baby bump on her Instagram handle a couple of months ago. In regards to parenting, however, the couple is showing their fans how they maintain balance and discipline through a few rules.
Despite their busy schedules, they have been able to balance giving their best in their professional lives and prioritizing their families. They also protect their children by ensuring they have a normal childhood away from the spotlight. Among those rules, the couple banned male pronouns in their home to break the stereotype.
Ryan Reynolds And Blake Lively Want To Raise Their Daughters Empowered
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, are setting an example of a power couple which also includes being good parents. Reynolds is a great family man and is especially careful about wording, such as not using the word “bossy.” The couple banned male pronouns in their home as part of one of their parenting rules to empower their daughters and prevent them from feeling inferior to men.
Back in 2017, the Gossip Girl actress sat down for an interview with Glamour, where they discussed her lifestyle, especially as a mother.
During their conversation, Glamour asked Blake Lively,
“You’d have to point out if he weren’t empowered.”
The actress said,
“Exactly. But with my husband (Reynolds), I’m lucky to have someone who is so conscious. My husband was like, ‘Why do I always say he?” And I said, “That’s what we’re taught.’ So he’ll pick up, like a caterpillar, and instead of saying, ‘What’s his name?’ he’ll say, ‘What’s her name?’ Or we’ve joked that my daughter is bossy. But my husband said, ‘I don’t ever want to use that word again. You’ve never heard of a man called bossy.’”
The Gossip Girl actress continued,
“There would never be any negative connotation for a man being a boss, so to add a negative connotation on a woman being bossy? It’s belittling.”
“And it doesn’t encourage them to be boss. So do I know how to be the best parent for a daughter? No, I have no idea. All I can do is share what I’m thinking—and learn from others.”
They also tend to be careful when using simple terms such as ‘he‘ and ‘she’ with their kids. It is primarily important to the couple that their children grow up in a society that is utterly neutral toward gender norms. Additionally, they have rules like sticking together as a family, no overlapping shooting schedules, laughing must be a priority, and, most importantly, giving their kids a normal childhood.
Ryan Reynolds And Blake Lively Are Expecting Their Fourth Baby
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds shared even more exciting news with their fans after celebrating their 10th anniversary in September. The Shallows star shared a few adorable pictures on her Instagram handle and announced her fourth pregnancy a few months ago. She shared some photos with her husband, Reynolds, and her family.
The actress captioned the post,
“Here are photos of me pregnant in real life, so the 11 guys waiting outside my home for a unicorn sighting will leave me alone. You freak my kids and me out. Thanks to everyone else for all the love and respect and for continuing to unfollow accounts and publications that share photos of children. You have all the power against them. And thank you to the media who have a ‘No Kids Policy.’ You all make all the difference. Much love! Xxb.”
On the red carpet a couple of days before her post, she showed a very noticeable baby bump. During her pregnancy, her trainer Don Saladino has opened up about how she stays active. Also, the actress shared a hilarious post with her trainer two days ago on her Instagram, captioning it, “been doing @donsaladino ‘s workout program for months now. Something isn’t working.”
The Instagram official also commented on the actress’ recent post. By sharing the picture, she hilariously wondered why her tummy was growing if she had been on her trainer’s fitness program for months. However, she reminded her fans again that she is going to be a mom soon for the fourth time and having a great time with her loved ones.
