Jerry Seinfeld’s Stance on Scientology
In an appearance on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast (via Uproxx), Seinfeld addressed the rumor that has surrounded him for decades. The rumor finds its roots in the long-lasting feud Seinfeld has had with Bobcat Goldthwait. It appears that it was Goldthwait who alleged Seinfeld’s association with Scientology.
And years later, Maron finally asked Seinfeld himself. Maron asked:
“Why does everyone say you were a Scientologist once?”
Addressing the long-debated subject, Seinfeld revealed that the matter did have some truth to it. He said:
“I did a course in Scientology in, like, 1975. I found it very interesting, but I never pursued it. Believe it or not…it’s extremely intellectual and clinical in its approach to problem-solving, which really appealed to me, it was very helpful. I took a couple of courses. One of them was in communication, and I learned some things about communication that really got my act going.”
On the contrary, Tom Cruise has been practicing for more than two decades now as his ex-wife Mimi Rogers introduced him to the religion.
