Created by Eric Kripke for Amazon Prime Video, the satirical superhero television series The Boys stars Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and more. Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name bases the show on the fact that it follows a group of vigilantes as they fight against super-powered individuals. These super-powered individuals not only abuse the power they have but also ensure that the public sees them as heroes.

The television series is in its fourth season currently, and right from season one, The Boys managed to garner the attention of the public and received a positive response. The audiences as well as critics have lauded the performances of the actors on the show, with special mention for Antony Starr’s Homelander. A theory suggests that there is one character who does not possess any superpower and has the opportunity to ruin Homelander.

Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barrett was not supposed to last beyond Season 1 on The Boys

Actress Colby Minifie plays the character of Ashley Barrett on the show, who is the publicist for Vought International and later becomes the CEO of the company. She does not possess any superpowers compared to the other characters on the show and has often showcased the tendency to pull out her hair when stressed. But season four cemented her as one of the significant characters on the show. The showrunner shared with The Wrap

She is the crucial part of this show because she brings the heat every single time, and when you watch Episode 6, she gives a performance that’s one of the funniest performances I’ve ever seen. She’s just a champion.

The actress also chimed in to explain that she is very grateful for the job she has, adding that there was no guarantee that it was going to be so long for her. Colby Minifie added that she feels like she won the actor’s jackpot, mentioning that it’s always fun to carry a character for many years and look at her changing. During her conversation with The Wrap, she added,

I think Ashley was only supposed to last in the first season. For her to continue, that was never meant to happen. For that to be a part of my life is just a huge, huge gift.

Eric Kripke shared that Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the pilot episode of The Boys, had said that they needed to cast Colby because he believed that she’d be turning into a regular for sure. Trachtenberg described the actress as magical. She has also appeared in the first season of The Boys’ spin-off series, Gen V.

Fans believe Ashley Barrett will destroy Antony Starr’s Homelander on The Boys

According to a fan theory on Reddit, Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barrett might just be the one character who, despite possessing no superpower, can take down Antony Starr’s Homelander. The theory reads,

It’s just way too on the nose that she’s dying, and there’s no way they actually kill her. I mean, there is just no way, after all these near-death experiences, that she actually dies. Also, have a pretty bold prediction that she’ll be the one who frees the Gen V protagonists in hopes they’ll help her take down Homelander.

Over the seasons, the character has become one of the favorites on the show with the actress ‘ magical’ acting. Fans also pointed out the dominant side of her. Another theory online (via The Mirror) suggests that in episode 4 when A-Train catches Ashley in Homelander’s room, he assumes that she has come to leave a ‘floater’ in his room as a form of protest for being sidelined at Vought.

Ashley does not correct him, but fans believe that maybe she was in his room to get some compound V for herself as well, and the ‘floater’ was just an excuse to cover up. The user added that Ashley seems pretty much done with Vought, and above all, she has to now deal with Sage and The Deep, and thus, she wants to quit, but she knows that she cannot escape Homelander.

The theory says that she took compound V from his room for herself to fight back. A user replied that they have been waiting for Supe Ashley to show up now, adding that she has to realize that staying around Supes without power is dangerous.

Well, these are theories that do make a lot of sense since Ashley Barrett’s character was pushed as a regular after Minifie impressed everyone with her acting skills. It’s going to be interesting to see if a normie like Ashley manages to ruin Homelander or not.

The Boys is streaming on Prime Video.
