Bill Skarsgård, the fourth member of the Skarsgård family to grace the screen with his presence, is all set to bring one of the most popular characters he has ever played to the audience. For the part of the audience that is not very thrilled about the proposition of seeing him as the lead in The Crow, he has something else in store. Something even more sinister.

Skarsgård has played some rather terrifying and villainous characters in his career, but his role in Nosferatu will probably give them a good amount of competition. Recently, the actor opened up about what his character is going to be like in the film and it is straight out of a nightmare. One that will disgust and attract the views at the same time.

Bill Skarsgård, son of acclaimed Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård (Good Will Hunting, Thor, Dune), began his acting career with Swedish films, much like the other members of his family who are actors. He gained international fame with the role of Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the horror movie franchise It, based on Stephen King’s eponymous novel.

When it comes to choosing roles, Skarsgård seems to have a penchant for the horror genre if his work in Hemlock Grove, Castle Rock, and Barbarian is anything to go by. Luckily, for him, these kinds of roles keep coming his way and luckily for his fans, he continues to give outstanding performances.

This year will see the Atomic Blonde actor in two such movies. The first of these is The Crow, directed by Rupert Sanders and the second is Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers. When asked what his character Count Orlock is going to be like in the latter movie, he told Esquire:

He’s gross. It is very s*xualized. It’s playing with a s*xual fetish about the power of the monster and what that appeal has to you. Hopefully, you’ll get a little bit attracted by it and disgusted by your attraction at the same time.

Skarsgård’s look as the vampire has not been revealed yet and the actor plans to let it stay that way. Even so, he has given this insight into his character.

Skarsgård is not a stranger to fame since his father is an acclaimed actor. Familiarity breeds contempt, and the Clark actor is no exception. So far, he has been able to avoid all the attention that came with his big roles, but that might not remain possible after the release of The Crow.

Speaking to Esquire about this, he stated that the proposition worries him. Further, he said:

I’m trying to view the fame aspect as a challenge and navigate through it in a way that I’ll find happiness. I really don’t think my line of profession is a recipe for happiness or contentment. Not a lot of us are happy. And the more the fame is increased, the more turbulent and scary life becomes.

Skarsgård tries to keep these worries at bay when he picks roles to play because he does not intend to build his resume based on some big vision. Instead, he is going role by role.

The Crow is scheduled to be released on August 23, 2024. Nosferatu is set to be released on December 25, 2024.
