Love stories come in all shapes and sizes, and for Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds and actress Minka Kelly, it came in a way most wouldn’t expect — through their shared love for art and a willingness to open up to each other over the phone.
Reynolds revealed that a mutual friend introduced him to Kelly. However, their connection began over the phone because Kelly was still working in the UK at the time. It took a few weeks of calls before they actually got to meet face-to-face.

During their long-distance courtship, Dan Reynolds, who was working on his new album Loom, shared some of his music with Minka Kelly. Interestingly, Kelly, who was writing her memoir titled Tell Me Everything, also offered to share some of her work in return.
“[Kelly] was very scared,” the singer told People. It’s because they hadn’t even met yet, “just as much as I was scared for her to hear a song that I’d written.” He added:
It was a really strange and awesome way to meet someone because I was hearing all her life stories from youth to now, and she had a really hard, colorful, beautiful life. Getting to read it all before you even meet somebody … I’ve never had that kind of introduction to someone.
Even though they were unsure at first, they both decided to go for it. Reynolds listened to Kelly’s honest and personal stories, getting to know her life better. And Kelly felt a connection with the emotions the Believer singer poured into his music.
Dan Reynolds and Minka Kelly are Happily Dating
Dan Reynolds and Minka Kelly bond through art turned into a real romance. By November 2022, they were seen having a cozy dinner together in Los Angeles. According to an insider who spoke to Us Weekly, “These are obviously early days for Minka and Dan but it’s going great and they’re both incredibly happy.”
In June 2023, they were spotted getting cozy outside a spa (in photos obtained by the Daily Mail). Their playful moments made it clear that the singer and actress are really hitting it off. Even though they haven’t been together long, their bond is strong. It just goes to show, sometimes love surprises you in the best ways.
Reynolds met the Euphoria star after his split from wife Aja Volkman in 2022. Reported by People, the duo divorced due to “irreconcilable differences.” They had previously separated in 2018, but reunited in 2019 only to separate again in 2022. Reynolds and Volkman have four children — daughters Arrow Eve (11) Gia James and Coco Rae (6) and son Valentine (4) — together and will share joint custody of them.
