James Bond Actress Joins Now You See Me 3 With Original Cast Members Returning
In a major casting move, Lionsgate has announced that acclaimed actress Rosamund Pike will be joining the cast for Now You See Me 3. While details on the Die Another Day actress’ role are being kept under wraps, it is believed that her character will play a pivotal role as the film reintroduces audiences to the thieving illusionists known as the Four Horsemen.
The biggest determinant of Now You See Me 3‘s success will be recapturing the story that made the first two films so unique. The 2013 original was a surprise global smash, grossing an impressive $351.7 million. Its 2016 follow-up, while falling a bit short of its predecessor’s total, still pulled in an impressive $334.8 million.
With Pike’s undeniable talent and clout, the mysterious nature of her part could mean virtually anything, a new threat, an unexpected ally, or perhaps even the next generation’s evolution of the Four Horsemen themselves.
Cast and Crew of Now You See Me 3
While the core Four Horsemen team of Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco are locked in to return, the fate of supporting stars like Lizzy Caplan as Lula remains unclear. However, one major absence is already confirmed, as Michael Caine, who played Arthur Tressler, announced his retirement from acting in late 2023. Apart from Rosamund Pike, newcomers like Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt round out the new ensemble.
Ruben Fleischer, coming fresh after delivering major hits like Venom and Uncharted, will be taking on the directorial role. He’ll be working on a script by Eric Warren Singer, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Mike Lesslie, as Now You See Me 3 aims to blend fan service for returning actors with an introduction to the next generation of magical thieves and illusionists, according to Deadline.
What Could Now You See Me 3 Be About?
Story details are still a secret, but the previous film did tease some intriguing possibilities. Now You See Me 2 ended with Mark Ruffalo’s character being asked to lead the secret society of magicians known as The Eye, with a tease that the Four Horsemen could join its ranks.
This “Next Generation” premise opens the door for Now You See Me 3 to potentially act as a soft reboot for the series while maintaining connections to previous installments. Eisenberg has assured fans that the script preserves the unique blend that made the first two films stand out. In an interview with Collider, Eisenberg said,
“For me, the thing I love about it so much, having just read the script, it celebrates intelligence and it’s non-violent but exciting, and it’s so weird to see that because it sounds so obvious, and it sounds like that would be common, teamwork and intelligence, rather than just violence.”

One prominent fan theory predicts that Rosamund Pike could be playing a relative of Michael Caine’s Arthur Tressler, looking to settle the score after her father and half-brother’s defeats. As a new potential big bad with inherent ties to the franchise’s mythology, it might fit Pike’s role.
Whether that speculation proves accurate or not, with an accomplished veteran director, a prestige newcomer in Pike, and the original ensemble still anchoring the magic, Now You See Me 3 has all the ingredients to add another blockbuster to the franchise.
