As the DC universe is all set for a reboot, it seems like the previous rumors surrounding Kurt Russell replacing actor Russell Crowe who played Jor-El in Man of Steel have come true as the Marvel star reveals his enjoyable and noteworthy experience working with James Gunn in a recent interview with Comic Book. While talking about the Man of Steel’s Kryptonian father, the Guardians of the Galaxy star said:

“Yeah! Yeah, I’ll take on Marlon Brando! I mean there was something awesome about the way he was just looking around – I don’t care that he was looking at his lines – he’s crazy great to watch! You know what: we don’t know a lot about Jor-El. Maybe there’s a version… I never heard this, so I don’t know. James Gunn was a blast to work with though, so you never know.”

Fans have shared their mixed views on Russell securing the role of Jor-El and have expressed it through the comments section on a post shared by Culture Crave on X (earlier Twitter):

While acknowledging the legendary actor Marlon Brando who played Jor-El in Superman: The Movie, Russell shares that he’s unaware of which actor will secure the role of Superman’s father, a significant character in the life of the Kyrptonian who sends his son (superman) to Earth as its protector.

James Gunn Will Portray a Distinct Dynamic Between Clark Kent and Jor-El in Superman: Legacy

Director James Gunn has often mentioned that his upcoming project won’t be following the stories depicted in previous films. This implies that the dynamic between the young Clark Kent aka Superman and his biological father Jor-El might be different than what we witnessed in previous Superman movies. And Kurt Russell helming the role would be nothing less than a virtual treat for fans who have been eagerly waiting for Superman: Legacy.
