Jamie Foxx has been Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor for a long time now. He shares two daughters with two of his ex-girlfriends. However, he has never been married and has even clarified that he wants to keep it that way. This decision of his is rather intriguing, especially considering he doesn’t mind dating.
Foxx has co-parented his daughters with their respective mothers and seems to have a good relationship with his children as well as their mothers. That said, he once revealed the reason why he refused to get married to Corinne Foxx’s mother, who is a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Jamie Foxx has been in the entertainment industry for almost 4 decades now. He welcomed his first daughter Corinne Foxx in 1994. She has always been close to her father and the two have even worked together on several projects. Last year, the Django Unchained actor walked his daughter down the aisle.
During his conversation with E! News‘ Daily Pop in 2021, he revealed why he refused to get married to Connie Kline, his older daughter’s mother. He said that the “cookie cutter” lifestyle never appealed to him.
The 2.5 children, the wood paneling on the station wagon and the cottage, I didn’t think that was for me.
He believes that his relationship with his daughters is better because of his decision to never get married.
A lot of those marriages ended up not doing well as the kids got older. Unfortunately, we saw the kids get fractured from their families. Us, we actually came together more. So I don’t know what that is, I just know that it is different but it’s a whole lot of love. The pressure of being married, I don’t think we can have a conversation about it. I just keep moving.
Foxx’s argument is understandable, as the mental trauma children endure during their parents’ divorce often takes years to heal. In some cases, this trauma can even lead to estrangement from one of their parents. So, his decision to not get married not only saved his kids from that possible trauma but also allowed them to be close to both of their parents without worrying that one of their parents might not like it.
Jamie Foxx has some advice about being a girl dad
Foxx has been a great actor and by the looks of it, he is just as good as a father. His second daughter, Anelise Bishop (the actor’s original name is Eric Bishop) came into this world in 2009. Her mother is Kristin Grannis, with whom he has been close despite their breakup and the pair were even seen together in August 2023 (via PEOPLE).
During his interview with Daily Pop, he revealed that he let his daughters help him with writing his memoir (even the title of which took some writing), Act Like You Got Some Sense: And Other Things My Daughters Taught Me. As for any advice that he had for girl dads, he said:
If you start early, Girl Dad, being a new dad, being able to talk about anything under the sun at the age of eight, nine, 10, when they are 18, 19, 20, they’ll say, ‘I can go to my dad and talk about anything.’ It will pay dividends for the rest of your life.
Foxx also stated that he likes to keep his family close which is why they all live together. He said there are times when things are not too good, but then there are also a lot of things that they get to celebrate.
