Although she has done commendable work in films, her most treasured performances come from such shows as Joey, 2 Broke Girls, The White Lotus, and many more. She managed to snag a Golden Globe and two Primetime Emmys for her role in The White Lotus as Tanya McQuoid. On her second Emmy win, which happened on Monday, Coolidge was sure to thank the “evil gays” in her acceptance speech and the fans could not get enough of it.

Jennifer Coolidge won Outstanding Supporting Actress for The White Lotus at the 75th Emmy Awards and in between her emotional acceptance speech, she managed to thank “all the evil gays” at the ceremony. Jennifer Coolidge was nominated alongside White Lotus co-stars Aubrey Plaza, Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Simona Tabasco—in addition to Elizabeth Debicki from The Crown, J. Smith-Cameron from Succession, and Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul. This is her second Emmy win.

While accepting the award, Coolidge joked that it was too heavy for her to lift and that she did not “have the strength” to hold it. She promised everyone she would be quick with her speech this year because she “got the hook last year,” meaning her speech got cut off due to being lengthy. She also made sure to let everyone know that her character Tanya is “definitely dead.” In the end, she concluded the whole thing on an emotional but sweet note, saying (via. Deadline),

“I had a little dream, in my little town, and everyone said was impractical and far-fetched, but it did happen after all. So don’t give up on your dreams.”

Jennifer Coolidge also got booted off the stage this year before she could properly finish her speech. Host Anthony Anderson’s real-life mother, Doris Bowman, who was the “play-off” mama of the show keeping track of the speech times, interrupted Coolidge’s speech and fans were not happy about it.

Fans Get Livid At Anderson’s Mom For Interrupting Jennifer Coolidge’s Legendary Emmy Speech

Poor Jennifer Coolidge had her speech cut short for the second year in a row at the Emmys and although she did not seem to mind much, fans are livid this time, and for good reasons. Last year, she could not end her whole list of thank-yous before the play-off music started. However, instead of being demotivated and leaving the stage, Coolidge chose to dance along with the music and the audience burst into laughter. This year, on the other hand, the fans were fuming due to a bit involving host Anthony Anderson’s mother, Doris Bowman.

Anthony Anderson did a wonderful job hosting the whole event. During the opening bit, he joked that this year he brought his mother with him to be the play-off momma that nobody can ignore. He additionally quipped by advising the guests to thank Jesus and wrap it up (via. Parade):

“This year, I’ve got something that nobody can ignore—my momma. Thank Jesus and your family, and wrap it up.”

The problem started when Doris Bowman took her job too seriously and rudely interrupted Jennifer Coolidge’s iconic Emmy win. Many on the internet thought she took the joke too far. Check out some of the tweets below.

When John Oliver was collecting his Emmy for Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, he did not shy away from poking fun at the skit, saying he would name random soccer players till Bowman stopped him.
