Jennifer Garner’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameo Became a Nightmare For 1 Reason Totally Out of Her Control
- Jennifer Garner's cameo as Elektra was spoiled ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine's release.
- The cameo was quite exciting, but the actress had to pay a heavy price for it.
- Becoming an actress was not high up on the list of careers the Alias star wanted to pursue.
Jennifer Garner’s Elektra was one of the numerous cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine. Her appearance in the movie as the superheroine did not come as much of a surprise to people because it was revealed before its release, but her dig at Ben Affleck certainly did. She previously played the role in 2003’s Daredevil and 2005’s eponymous superhero film, so it was a rather anticipated cameo.
Garner’s cameo was perfection, that is for sure. The audience was amazed that she could pull it off so well even after so many years. However, it did not come without its own set of hardships. In a recent interview, she revealed how a couple of minutes of cameo became a nightmarish situation for her due to circumstances that were out of anyone’s control.
Jennifer Garner’s Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Presented Her with a Horrific Situation
Deadpool & Wolverine is the third movie starring the Merc with a Mouth in the lead role, and the first Deadpool movie under the Marvel Studios banner. Considering that this sequel came 6 years after the last one, the excitement was at an all-time. Add to it the fact that Hugh Jackman was also going to break out of his retirement as Wolverine, and it requires no telling just what fans would have given to watch it.
Their love for the movie became obvious when it came out and earned over a billion dollars at the box office. Not to mention, the Academy Award nominations it has received. From Wesley Snipes’ Blade to Channing Tatum‘s Gambit, there was an abundance of cameos in the movie, Garner’s Elektra was also one of them.
However, the 13 Going on 30 star’s cameo demanded a sacrifice when Hollywood went on a joint strike for 6 months. In a recent interview on Molly Sims and Emese Gormley’s podcast, Lipstick on the Rim, Garner opened up about it. She said that she got to London and had to do costume fitting, stunt rehearsal, wig fitting, and camera test in a matter of hours, but still could not shoot her scenes because the strike had commenced.
I did everything in that time, but by 5:00 p.m. in London, I think it was, they were like, “You have to be off the lot.” So then I just had to stay in that kind of shape for the next six months.
It might not sound like a lot, but for Garner, it was. She had to do a 2-hour intense training in addition to some other training for that much time to make sure that she could do the cameo without any further delay once the strike ended.
Jennifer Garner Never Planned to Be an Actress
Garner has been an acclaimed performer for decades now, since she first made her debut in 1995’s miniseries, Zoya. However, acting was not her dream profession as some might have thought. In the same interview, she also revealed this truth.
Well, I never wanted… I didn’t think I would be an actor. I didn’t think that that was a possibility. I didn’t think about it anyway. There’s so many jobs I’ve always wanted to do. I still feel that way. I’m still like any minute in my fifties, I’m going to go back to school and study. I don’t know.
Growing up, the Alias star was a dedicated ballet dancer, but acting was never high up on the list of professions that she wanted to practice. In fact, her father encouraged her to do something that was related to academics. The actress admitted that she was too distracted to go that route. Either way, it has worked out for her, and it is never too late should she ever decide to switch professions.
