Jennifer Lawrence lost control after winning an Oscar

Jennifer Lawrence has been open about how the sudden fame and attention that came with winning the Oscar as well as after the monumental success of The Hunger Games franchise affected her mental health. In the London Film Festival’s “Screen Talk” series, the actress presented her side of the story. She said,

“I think I lost a sense of control. Between ‘The Hunger Games’ coming out and winning the Oscar [for 2012’s ‘Silver Lining Playbook’], I became such a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision. When I reflect now, I can’t think of those following years, [because there was] just a loss of control.”

The American actress was first known for her role in the indie film Winter’s Bone. But, it was her performance in the Hunger Games series that catapulted her into worldwide fame. Her undeniable talent, beauty, and charm have now made her one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. But as they say, too much of anything is bad, and Lawrence got to experience that. Her fame that skyrocketed also smashed her down to the ground and broke her sense of individuality.

Jennifer Lawrence will never be the same after The Hunger Games

Jennifer Lawrence’s portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise is still one of the most talked about performances to date. Her experience working on the series was a challenging yet rewarding one. It’s clear that the role has helped her to further develop as an actor and as a person and to get where she is now today.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, she described the audition process for the role of Katniss as brutal. She had to undergo multiple rounds of auditions and screen tests. She had to spend several months on location in North Carolina and Georgia, filming scenes in forests, swamps, and other challenging sites and also had to train with Olympic archers and undergo severe physical exercises every day. The character was also very difficult to play emotionally.

Despite the challenges, Lawrence found working on The Hunger Games to be an incredible experience. After all the franchise helped her become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, and it’s clear that she will always be grateful for this particular experience.
