The 81st Golden Globe Awards were held on January 7th, 2024 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The award ceremony, which was produced, by Dick Clark Productions, Ricky Kirshner, and Glenn Weiss was hosted by comedian Jo Koy. One of the highlights of the ceremony was of course actress Jennifer Lawrence.

Jennifer Lawrence starred in the 2023 release No Hard Feelings alongside Andrew Barth Feldman. The movie went on to receive positive response from the audience and the critics along with the actress earning a Best Actress nomination at the 81st Golden Globes. But it was Lawrence’s reaction to her fellow nominee and friends’ win that showcased that she had No Hard Feelings for not winning. Let’s find out more.

Jennifer Lawrence cheered the loudest for Emma Stone at the Golden Globes 2024

Actress Jennifer Lawrence was nominated at the Golden Globes 2024 for the award of Best Actress in a Motion Picture- Comedy or Musical for No Hard Feelings. She portrayed the character of Maddie Barker in the movie directed by Gene Stupnitsky.

Emma Stone on the other hand was nominated for starring in the period-science fantasy black comedy movie; Poor Things. She portrayed the character of Bella Baxter/ Victoria Blessington in the movie directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

When nominees for Best Performance by a Female Actor in Motion picture-musical or Comedy were announced Lawrence was seen mouthing, “If I don’t win, I’m leaving.” Minutes later, Emma Stone was announced as the winner and Lawrence cheered the loudest for the fellow actress and threw her hands in the air.

Lawrence was also caught saying ‘Mother!’ as she cheered for her fellow actress and friend. Lawrence wasn’t the only one whose reaction was captured but Taylor Swift’s reaction to Stone’s win was also caught and it was similar to No Hard Feelings’ actress. Swift also hooted and hollered while she kept clapping for the actress who was accepting the award. Stone while accepting the award said via ET,

“I see this as a rom-com, in the sense that Bella falls in life itself, rather than a person. She accepts the good and the bad in equal measure—all of it is important.”

Stone went on to thank her husband Dave McCary in her acceptance speech along with thanking the cast and crew of Poor Things. She was nominated alongside Natalie Portman for May December, Alma Pöysti for Fallen Leaves, Margot Robbie for Barbie, and Fantasia Barrino for The Color Purple apart from Lawrence.

Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone credit their friendship to Woody Harrelson

The two successful and fan-favorite actresses Lawrence and Stone have been friends for a while and it’s all thanks to their mutual friend Woody Harrelson. Emma Stone worked with the actor in 2009’s Zombieland where as Jennifer Lawrence worked with him on the Hunger Games movies.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2016, Lawrence said,

“Stone texted me that she got my number from Woody. I replied, F**k off! And we’ve been really good friends ever since.”

Lawrence had also interviewed Stone for Elle back in 2018 where Stone was asked by the actress about why friends are important to her to which she said,

“I think friendship is pretty much everything. Here’s another turning-30 thing I’ve realized: You pick your family. You realize that your friendships, the people who go with you into these next phases of your life- you’re choosing your family.”

Emma Stone during the conversation added that for her loyalty in friendship is enormous. She mentioned to Lawrence that she has been one of her most loyal friends for years.

No Hard Feelings is streaming on Netflix while the streaming dates for Poor Things have yet to be announced.
