Jeremy Allen White’s Co-star Hated Fans Demanding a Romantic Arc With ‘The Bear’ Actor, Called It “Disappointing and Weird”
Jeremy Allen White’s culinary drama The Bear season 2 was one of the most loved television shows of 2023. The story revolves around the character of Carmy, a young chef who moves from pillar to post to run his dead brother’s sandwich shop based in Chicago.
Jeremy Allen White’s co-star Ayo Edebiri believes a romantic angle between Carmy and Sydney would have been disappointing, jarring, and weird.
Jeremy Allen White’s Co-star Disliked Fans Demanding A Romantic Angle Between Them In The Bear
During an interview with the reputed media outlet The Cut in 2022, Ayo Edebiri spoke about The Bear, her co-star Jeremy Allen White, and her chemistry with him. The actor feels there is no room for romance between Carmy and Sydney in the kitchen. While talking about the relationship dynamics between both the characters, Ayo Edebiri said-
“Sydney really looks up to Carmy. She comes to the restaurant for him, she wants to work for him and learn from him because she was so moved by the food he made and wants to be able to do that one day. They have a complicated relationship. There’s a lot of places where they understand each other and where they meet, especially in terms of their background and their focus. But obviously they have very different personality types and are from very different schools of thought. As an actor it’s really fun getting to see where those tensions meet and play with Jeremy in that way.”
She further explained
“I don’t personally think there’s anything romantic there! I don’t think the show is a sexual one. These people don’t have … very robust personal lives. They’re devoted to their jobs. If anything happened between Sydney and Carmy, nobody would be happy. It would be disappointing and jarring and weird. I don’t think people actually want that.”
The huge fan following behind the show has led to their fans rooting for both Carmy and Sydney as a couple.
Jeremy Allen White Was Left Embarrassed On Thanksgiving
Despite playing the character of a seasoned chef in The Bear, Jeremy Allen White was left embarrassed on Thanksgiving in front of 30 people. The Emmy-nominated actor spoke about his culinary skills, and being humiliated during Thanksgiving on The Jimmy Kimmel Live. The 32-year-old actor said-
“They’re like alright who knows how to carve a Turkey and everybody’s kind of like winking at me like I’m gonna do it and I feel like I have to kind of like appease everybody and make everybody happy so I go up there and I start carving.”
While talking about how everyone expected him to carve out the huge Turkey, he said-
“And I should know how to do this, I went to culinary school I learned how to break down a chicken, I know how to do this stuff but the pressure and the moment I’m in front of everybody, I am cutting and I just get too nervous I can’t do it and somebody actually had to come in…save the chef, it was really embarrassing.”
Despite being trained as a chef for The Bear, the Shameless star couldn’t carve a Turkey in front of 30 people during a Thanksgiving party.
The Bear is currently available on Hulu.
