During the early 90s, American Express launched an exclusive credit card with no credit limit. It went on to become a status symbol for wealthy people in the world. Jerry Seinfeld became a major topic of discussion when the actor made headlines with respect to inventing the credit card.

During an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the American comedian had spoken about the much-hyped credit card issued by American Express. The Jerry Before Seinfeld star had claimed that he owned the first Black Card. During his appearance on the chat show, Jerry Seinfeld even recalled that according to one of the commercial crew members, only three people in the world had a credit card with no limit.

Though the Seinfeld star had contacted the president of American Express who went on to squash the rumors and clarified that it was all a made-up story. The comedian claimed that he was the first person ever to receive an exclusive credit card. During the 1990s the speculations around Jerry Seinfeld were doing the rounds of both the entertainment and finance world. As the famous news channel CNBC even tried to go deep into the matter to find out the reality behind the rumors, but they came to a dead end and could not provide any data either to confirm or debunk the rumors.

Even the American Express spokesperson did not quote on the speculations related to the celebrated comedian’s claims. The acquisition of the elite card was already the talk of the town in the 90s. According to the statement issued by the American Express-

“We cannot attribute the existence of the American Express Centurion Card to just one Card Member.”

However, it has been speculated that may Jerry Seinfeld had an important contribution to the development of the card. However, the Standup Confidential star wasn’t the only one to have the card as multiple industrialists, businessmen, billionaires, and even celebrities owned the elite card which was a status symbol of wealthy people in society. The Shar Tank investor Mark Cuban had revealed that even he owned an American Express Black Card.

According to financial experts, famous celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, and golf legend Tiger Woods also have access to the unlimited benefits of the Centurion Cards.

How Did Jerry Seinfeld Trick, Chris Rock To Join The Cast Of The Bee Movie?

During the production of the movie The Bee Jerry Seinfeld really wanted comedian Chris Rock onboard. He wanted Chris Rock to lend a voice to one of the characters of the animated movie. Jerry Seinfeld had tricked Chris Rock to join the entire team of voice-over actors for The Bee. He mentioned that the legendary director Steven Spielberg was also associated with the movie.

Later The Longest Yard actor totally agreed to be a part of Jerry Seinfeld’s brainchild, only to find out that he was tricked by the American comedian as the Indiana Jones Franchise director was not a part of the animated movie. During an exclusive interview with the media outlet Collider, Chris Rock recalled this instance and said-

“No, he told me what it was, but he actually told me Spielberg was going to be in it and when I get there, there is no Spielberg. So, he kind of owes me. I don’t know how. I’m just gonna hold on to that chip and just figure out when I get to cash it in,”

However, the Jaws director Steven Spielberg had shown interest and even wanted to be a part of Jerry Seinfeld’s animated venture, but due to some reason, he couldn’t be an active part of The Bee. During an interview, the famous comedian mentioned how director Steven Spielberg was the driving force behind the execution of the movie. He mentioned-

“This was not a meeting. It was just a social dinner and it was an offhanded remark of something I thought might be a funny comment in conversation at the dinner to make him laugh. I didn’t want to make the movie. He’s the one who thought it was a movie. I didn’t think it was a movie,”
