The major concern for the franchise now is the recasting of Kang the Conquerer or the debut of another supervillain who can counteract Kang’s influence. However, since Majors is no longer the scene-stealing antagonist, a fan asked Star Wars actor John Boyega to play the role, and guess what, he refused.

Star Wars Actor John Boyega Turns Down The Idea of Playing Kang the Conqueror

Seems like John Boyega isn’t interested in working with Disney anymore as he turned down the idea of playing Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This became a bit humous as the actor took no time in replying to the fan who proposed the idea to him. However, for Marvel, it is undeniably a concerning issue as they planned an entire movie revolving around Majors’s character before his arrest in this year’s March.

Jonathan Majors was set to reprise his iconic villainous role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty which is now referred to as Avengers 5. This hints that the makers are planning to abandon the Kang storyline, and since there have been no reports suggesting any actor helming the role, it might come true.

When Loki season 2 was released, a top dealmaker explained Marvel’s troubles with Kang’s storyline and said (via Vanity Fair) that:

“Marvel is truly f*cked with the whole Kang angle, and they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”

Rewriting an entire storyline will come with its headaches and to prevent this, Marvel might consider launching another supervillain like Doctor Doom.

Usually, when actors are pitched about the idea of taking an impactful role in the superhero world, they show some amount of excitement or thrill. But with John Boyega, the actor refused in no time. This is likely because he has been furious with Disney for mishandling his character Finn in Star Wars. During an interview with GQ, Boyega slammed Disney and said:

“I’m the only cast member who had their own unique experience of that franchise based on their race. Let’s just leave it like that. It makes you angry with a process like that. It makes you much more militant; it changes you. Because you realize, ‘I got given this opportunity but I’m in an industry that wasn’t even ready for me.”

The Woman King star has wrapped up his work with Star Wars and hasn’t been shy about sharing his experience and frustration with the makers for not treating him equally like other cast members. Boyega even mentioned people threatening him and talking about boycotting the Star Wars movie due to his presence in it.
