Joker: Folie à Deux is taking hit after hit. After failing to impress the critics and audience, the movie has also failed to impress the panel of the Golden Globes award as it has not been nominated in a single category at the award ceremony.
Golden Globes Awards will mark the beginning of the awards season next year wherein some of the best movies released this year will be competing to take the award home. Unfortunately, the Joker sequel is nowhere to be found in the movies nominated for the Golden Globes, which is unlike the first movie.

There was a lot of excitement about Joker: Folie à Deux when it as first announced, but as the release date began getting closer, people began understanding that it is far from what they expected. Consequently, the movie flopped at the box office and was panned by critics. To add to its list of failures, it has now been excluded from the nominations for the Golden Globe awards to be held in January next year.
Its predecessor explored the origin story of the beloved DC villain. Arthur Fleck, a mentally troubled clown who aspired to be a comedian, was mistreated and disregarded by the society to the point that his descent into madness culminates in the emergence of his alter-ago, Joker. This alter-ego became a symbol of rebellion, sparking chaos in a deeply fractured society.
With a worldwide collection of over a billion dollars, it became the sixth highest grossing movie of the year and occupied the position of the highest grossing R-rated movie for half a decade, before this year’s Deadpool & Wolverine replaced it.
Besides being nominated in a leading 11 categories at the Academy Awards, it was also nominated for 4 Golden Globes. It won in 2 out of the 4 categories it was nominated for at the prestigious Golden Globe awards. While Joaquin Phoenix won the award for Best Actor, Hildur Guðnadóttir emerged as the winner of the award for Best Original Score in a Motion Picture.

John Waters, well known for shaping LGBTQ cinema, has an unconventional take about the critically panned psychological thriller. His unapologetic love for provocative cinema has cemented his position in cinema history and he has now shared a list of 10 movies that he believes are the best releases of 2024.
The Pink Flamingos director has ranked Joker 2 as the sixth best movie of the year in an article published on Vulture. He wrote:

It is hardly any surprise that someone who harbors a deep love for the grotesque and the taboo has such high praise for this film that even the Golden Globes have refused to acknowledge. The comparison to movies like Jailhouse Rock and Busby Berkeley is quite the take and hints at the movie’s potential for cult classic status. This means that although the movie is a huge disappointment to people right now, there is a good chance that it will turn out to be a cult classic, in due time.
