The original announcement for Justice League 2 came in 2014. It was when Warner Bros. announced a sprawling slate of DC movies through 2020. Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello confirms that Justice League Part 2 would feature Injustice League after re-recorded post-credits.

Justice League 2': Zack Snyder may have revealed trippy sequel plans

Justice League 2 would have to introduce the Injustice League

Justice League 2 was going to be about the Injustice League, said Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello. As part of Zack Snyder’s five-film plan for the DCEU, the scrapped ensemble film was the second last entry in his overall arc. It began in Man of Steel and supposedly ended in Justice League 3.

As a known fact, that model went through various changes to varying degrees. The most significant change, however, came when Snyder had to walk away from the Justice League. Furthermore, DC hired Joss Whedon to replace him to finish the movie and re-shoot it. The changes Manganiello is now talking about are a bit more complicated. Rather being a part of the changes made while Whedon was in charge, as other factors affected this decision.

Joe Manganiello reveals

About his latest film, Archenemy, Manganiello told about his experience working in the Justice League’s post-credits scene. It sparked the arrival of the Injustice League with an encounter between Deathstroke and Lex Luthor. But aside from that, he also says the idea would materialize on the big screen sooner than expected.

The idea of introducing Injustice League in Justice League 2 was not Snyder’s plan for the sequel. Justice League was going to be a step before the eventual introduction of Darkseid into its follow-up. It had the fate to be the overall villain of its DCEU story. That’s why the Justice League post-credits scene would be about standalone Batman. Not about  Justice League 2 in the original narrative. With Snyder off the creative board and Affleck stepping out of his solo movie. Warner Bros. found a way to turn the otherwise great idea into something useful to them in the future. It also shows that the studio was ready to change the direction of the story of what Snyder was doing. Along with the Justice League’s victory over Steppenwolf in the first movie.

The Justice League Sequel

Since none of these story arcs will hit the screen, they are irrelevant to the future of the DCEU. There is always the possibility that Warner Bros. will review any of these ideas and decide to move forward with them. On the other hand, Snyder is wrapping up his original plan for Justice League. Potentially with some additional ideas built in from his Justice League 2 to the upcoming HBO Max miniseries. However, the Injustice League almost made it to the big screen with Justice League 2. We don’t expect to see that specific idea in the Snyder Cut.
