Julia Roberts Reveals Martin Luther King Jr. Paid For Her Hospital Bill During Her Birth
American actress Julia Roberts recently revealed that Martin Luther King Jr. paid the hospital bill for her birth. The actress told Gayle King that her parents couldn’t afford it at the time but thankfully the iconic leader, who was friends with her father, paid the hospital bill. She revealed that her parents met him while they were living in Atlanta and running a theater school. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King reportedly wanted their kids to be a part of their school and that is how the actress’ family became friends with them.

Actress Julia Roberts told Gayle King that Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King paid the hospital bill for Julia Roberts’ birth as her parents couldn’t afford it. She explained how her parents befriended the great leader,
“One day Coretta called my mother and asked if her kids could be part of the school because they were having a hard time finding a place that would accept her kids. My mom was like, ‘Sure, come on over,’ and so they all just became friends, and they helped us out of a jam.”
This was during the 1960s and the Kings had a hard time trying to admit their kids to a theatre school.
A car was blown outside Julia Roberts’ parents’ theatre school
Back in the 1960s, when Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Yolanda, was cast in a role where she had to kiss a white actor, a car was blown outside Julia Roberts’ parents’ theatre school by a Ku Klux Klan member in retaliation. Her parents’ decision to cast Yolanda was called “extraordinary” because people didn’t see “little black children interacting with little white kids in acting school” back then.

Julia Roberts celebrated her 55th birthday
The actress celebrated her 55th birthday on Friday and posted a selfie on her social media account. The actress is currently married to Danny Moder, and the two share three kids, 17-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 15-year-old Henry. Her latest movie, Ticket to Paradise, was released on September 8th and the actress teamed up with George Clooney to play a divorced couple who together try to sabotage the impending wedding of their daughter. The actress also dated Mathew Perry in the 1990s. The actor recently revealed in his memoir that his struggles with alcohol and prescription medicine led to his breakup with the actress. He claimed that he regrets breaking up with her.
