Brian Cox has expressed his disapproval many times before over Jeremy Strong’s method acting style, but this time the actor was way more direct while sharing his opinion. Cox is currently promoting the upcoming fourth season of Succession. While promoting the series, he made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show. In a conversation with the host of the show, Cox shared his opinion on method acting. The actor said,

“Well, you know, Jimmy, I’ve been a little harsh on it. And I’m sorry about that. In fact, I’ve been trying to set the record straight in a Master Class series of acting that I’ve been doing.”

Cox demonstrated a video, through which he shared his thoughts on method acting. In the video, he is seen shouting, “Just f**king do it! Say the f**king lines, and don’t bump into the f**king furniture.”

While discussing method acting, Cox also mentioned his concern for his co-star Jeremy Strong over his acting style. He bluntly said, “Oh, it’s f*cking annoying. Don’t get me going on it.” He continued,

“He’s a very good actor, and the rest of the ensemble is all okay with this. But knowing a character and what the character does is only part of the skill set. He’s still that guy because he feels if he went somewhere else he’d lose it. But he won’t! Strong is talented. He’s f*cking gifted. When you’ve got the gift, celebrate the gift. Go back to your trailer and have a hit of marijuana, you know?”

Following Brian Cox’s blatant opinion on Jeremy Strong’s method acting, Strong shared his dismay. The Armageddon Time actor stated,

“I had a safe forum to share those things — and ultimately that experience was put in doubt.”

Referring to the headlines about his method acting, Strong revealed that he never had a conversation with any of his co-stars, including Cox, regarding this. Further, Strong said,

“Everyone’s entitled to have their feelings, I also think Brian Cox, for example, he’s earned the right to say whatever the f*ck he wants. There was no need to address that or do damage control… I feel a lot of love for my siblings and my father on the show. And it is like a family in the sense that — and I’m sure they would say this, too — you don’t always like the people that you love. I do always respect them.”

During his interview with Jimmy Fallon, Cox spills the tea regarding the series Succession. He said that the upcoming fourth season of Succession will be its final run.

HBO‘s Succession season 4 episode 1 is already streaming.
