Glen Powell recently surprised everyone on the Discourse Podcast by saying he really loves superhero movies, even though Marvel and DC have never called him to be in one. The 35-year-old said of Deadpool & Wolverine (via The Playlist):

I just saw Deadpool & Wolverine. I freaking had a blast. I think what Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds did with that is extraordinary and just such a fun flavor for audiences. And I cheer for them, and I love what [they do.]

Twisters, his own film that faced stiff competition from superhero blockbuster, did not deter his admiration for the genre. The film’s big success shows that actors who usually stick to other genres can still have a lot of fun with superheroes. Though, the star hasn’t starred in any superhero film yet, he knows how awesome the genre is.

Even though Glen Powell isn’t keen on playing a superhero, he has his own cool idea for Batman. He mentioned in an old GQ interview that he’d like to do Batman in a way that’s more like the 1980s version, not like Matt Reeves’ recent take. Powell said, hinting at something more adventurous, kind of like Michael Keaton’s Batman:

I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to Keaton. Oh, sick!

Even though Powell said he doesn’t want to play a superhero, he likes the idea of Bruce Wayne—after all, the Hit Man actor is just like us, rooting for superheroes.

He’s come close to playing Batman, though, “I get my head banged by Bane in The Dark Knight Rises,” the Austin native proudly stated. This peek into his Batman idea shows how actors can have a complicated love-hate relationship with superhero movies.

Deadpool & Wolverine is still screening in theatres.
