Academy Award winners Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were once regarded as one of the most beloved couples in the industry. The former couple, who met in 2005 on the sets of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, tied the knot in France in 2014, only to call it quits in 2016. Since then, the two of them have been entangled in a messy divorce battle regarding finalizing the finances and custody of their children. The actors were declared legally single in 2019.

The former couple recently appeared at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of their respective movies without crossing each other’s path; the festival artistic director Alberto Barbera made sure of that. To everyone’s surprise, a recent confession from the actor seemed like he isn’t bothered much about the long and messy divorce battle with his ex-wife, while Jolie is reportedly struggling to determine the terms of their divorce.

Brad Pitt is now an ‘air is fresh and grass is green’ kind of a guy now

Brad Pitt appeared at the Venice International Film Festival 2024 alongside his co-star and friend George Clooney for the premiere of their upcoming movie Wolfs. The actor walked the red carpet with his girlfriend of two years, Ines de Ramon. A recent cover story interview with GQ was shot with Château Miraval, the French Villa and winery; Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shared once.

During the interview, Pitt was reminded about his confession of trying to work less, pointing to doing one movie a year, to which he replied,

Well, now I’m doing one movie in a year and a half. No, I’m still kind of on the same trajectory. I feel the same. I’m really just trying to enjoy the people that I love around me and just living. I don’t know how to not sound cheesy about it, but just the air is fresh and the grass is green, and I’ve just kind of become that guy a little bit.

Clooney chimed in to add things change with time as they grow old, noting that for the next 20 years, they really have to focus on not just work but also life as well. Pitt continued that one starts to understand the idea of mortality and that is something everyone has to deal with. Individuals just became more aware of it. During the interview, the Fight Club actor was asked about his stance on ‘I’m on my last leg’, to which he said

I meant that as a season. You embark on this thing, and it’s all about discovery, and it’s really exciting and interesting and painful and awful and all of it. And then, when you’re allowed into the big leagues, it becomes another game of responsibilities and things to answer to. But also opportunity and delight and working with people you really respect.

The confession from Pitt seemed like the actor is not much bothered about his divorce battle with former partner Jolie. Sources also shared that Pitt is not rooting against the actress, who finds the entire situation incredibly sad.

Angelina Jolie talks about prioritizing family over work

The actress who appeared in her movie Maria, a biopic on legendary opera singer Maria Callas, had spoken at the press conference about how she had to prioritize between her acting career and her family. She said, (via IndieWire)

I’ve needed to be home more with my family these last few years. And in that time, I’ve become maybe more grateful to have the opportunity to just be an artist and play and be among all of you, to just be in this creative world that we are all fortunate to be in some way a part of. So I’m happy to be here, and I am grateful.

Angelina Jolie, who has received praise for her portrayal of the opera singer in the movie, was asked about how her personal life influenced her performance as a woman who was stalked by fans and paparazzi throughout her career. The actress simply answered that there is a lot that she won’t say in the room that the public already knows and assumes.

She added that she has relearned the meaning of the word ‘diva,’ which often comes with a lot of negative connotations. She mentioned that, according to her, it’s the people’s perception of a woman that sometimes defines too much of who she is, who she was, or what she is intended to be. Jolie concluded that Maria Callas was one of the hardest-working people who didn’t hurt anybody, and everyone would agree.

Talking about how her divorce from Pitt has affected her, sources close to the former couple shared that they find it surprising that the two of them have not been able to solve their divorce.

An insider revealed that the former couple is now focused on their kids and a desire to at least be able to resolve that matrimonial side of things while their Miraval case plays out the way it has been. The insider lastly added that their close ones hope that the former couple can get on the same page and put an end to their long legal battle.

Wolfs will have limited theatrical release on September 20 before premiering on Apple TV+ on September 27!
