Thank U, Next managed to break several streaming records, and her title track 7 Rings made Ariana Grande the first solo artist to occupy the top three positions on the chart simultaneously. She is one of the best-selling music artists in the world and is now gearing up for the release of her hotly anticipated musical fantasy Wicked. Ariana Grande recently appeared on Las Culturistas, where she addressed how people’s comments on her appearance.

During a conversation, Matt Rogers shared with the group that he has a mental illness that no one can tell him, to which the singer replied, ‘Twitter will tell you’. She further said,

They told me I had a lot of things. They are actually invasive, scary, and triggering. Just wrong and loud, unhealthy—that’s toxic.

It is not the first time the singer had to address people’s comments on her changing appearance. In April, she took to TikTok and shared a video in which she mentioned that she just wanted to address the concerns of people about her body.

Grande at the time noted that antidepressants and alcohol were impacting negatively on her health. The singer added (via Teen Vogue)

The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body. I was on a lot of antidepressants drinking on them and eating poorly. I was at the lowest point of my life when I looked at the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn’t my healthy.

Ariana Grande mentioned that she shouldn’t have to explain it to anyone, but she feels like maybe having an open conversation might help. The artist went on to share that before commenting on someone’s body, people should be mindful of what the person might be going through.

Actress-singer urged fans and online users to be gentle and kind with each other and to themselves. Her fans jumped in to support her, echoing the idea that body shaming anyone can be harmful and should not be preached.

Ariana Grande wants to return to Broadway

The actress will be seen as Galinda Upland in Wicked, alongside Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba Thopp, who revealed in her conversation with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers that she’d love to return to Broadway. She said,

It is my heart. I’m going to say something so scary—it’s going to scare the absolute sh*t out of my fans and everyone, but I love them, and they’ll deal, and we’ll be here forever.

Ariana Grande added that she is always going to make music, but she is always going to go on stage. She said she’s always going to do pop stuff, but she does not think that she’ll be doing that at the rate she has been doing it for the past 10 years. The actress who started her career portraying Cat Valentine on Victorious noted reconnecting with this part of herself who starred in musical theater was healing for her.

She added that whatever makes sense or whatever roles she sees that would fit her, she would love to do that. She touched upon her latest album, stating that the response wasn’t great, which put her in a cage of judging every piece, and she scrapped a lot of things she was initially going to put out. Now she says people love the album, and she is just like, How is that fair?

The actress-singer is excited for people to watch Wicked. The movie is scheduled to premiere on November 22, 2024.
