“Just you. That’s it”: After Shaming Margot Robbie for Her Looks, Jim Carrey Made Reporter Uncomfortable with Inappropriate Response
Jim Carrey has fallen to pervert status on social media spaces. His recent interactions with women in interviews have been deeply unsettling. After making headlines for enunciating that Margot Robbie’s success came down to her looks on The Graham Norton Show, he has now made a creepy comment to an interviewer. While promoting the animated movie Sonic the Hedgehog, he told the reporter, that she was the only thing left on his bucket list. This exchange took social media by storm.
Jim Carrey Made an Extremely Inappropriate Comment
Jim Carrey’s irrelevant media training or lack thereof, is showing. During a promotional interview for his movie Sonic the Hedgehog, the actor told the young female interviewer from Heat Magazine that she was on his bucket list. Referencing the movie’s character interviewer Charlotte Long asked Carrey about what he has on his bucket list. She questioned: “In the film, Sonic has a bucket list. I was wondering, after all, you’ve done in your career and in your life, is there anything still left on your bucket list?”
To which, Carrey responded: “Just you. That’s it. It’s all done now.” This bold statement took Long was caught off guard and rendered speechless. “Wow. I don’t know what to say to that.”
“Just own it,” Carrey laughed it off. And Long responded, “OK, I’m owning it now.”
This exchange happened only weeks later the Yes Man star went too far with a joke about Margot Robbie on national television.
“You’re really something, Margot Robbie. It’s incredible you got as far as you have with your obvious physical disadvantages. That’s pure talent there.”
Jim Carrey’s Spokespeople Respond to the Backlash
After the matter got too out of hand, Jim Carrey’s team released a statement clarifying his viral with Long. They called the internet fury baseless. His publicist said:
“This is a ridiculous non-story. Jim’s full quote was ‘Just you! That’s it, I’m all done now!’ clearly and good-naturedly referring to the interview as being on the top of his bucket list. It was in no way a reference to the journalist herself. This is another example of a clickbait headline pandering to the dark side of ‘scroll culture’ — a dirty business done by and for people with dirty minds.”
Long hasn’t said anything on the matter. The explanation provided by Carrey’s PR team has resolved the matter to a certain extent.
