Kanye West Marks Twitter Return With Another Jab at Anti-Semitism Remarks That Destroyed His Multi-Million Deal With Adidas
Kanye West made quite the headlines when he was banned from Twitter for making an anti-Semitic remark. What was worse for the Donda rapper than losing his Twitter access was losing out on multi-million deals with several brands, including his deal with Adidas which was worth a whopping $1.5 billion.
Back in October, Ye had tweeted that he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE”, and the statement caused him trouble to no end. He added fuel to the fire by claiming: “The thing about it being Adidas is I can literally say antisemitic s*** and they cannot drop me.” And dropping the Yeezy founder is exactly what the sportswear brand did. But after all this, Ye doesn’t seem to have learned his lesson and is still teasing the world after his return to Twitter.
Kanye West makes a Twitter comeback
Elon Musk took over Twitter in late August and soon Kanye West got his account back. One of the first courses of action he took was tweeting “not talking to nooobody for a month” on November 4, alluding to No N*t November, during which he would embrace total abstinence from s*x, adult films, and even alcohol.
Over two weeks later, on November 20, the Grammy winner decided to check if he still had access to his account. He tweeted,
“Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked”
After “testing” the waters, the 45-year-old rapper went on to tweet something referencing the infamous controversy that got him kicked from Twitter in the first place. The father of 4 tweeted, “Shalom : )”, which is a Hebrew word for greeting and might also mean peace.
Kanye Still hasn’t learned his lesson
The most notably impertinent fact about the debacle is how staunchly the Donda Academy founder stood by his bigoted remarks while claiming that he “doesn’t believe” in the term anti-Semitism. The Hip Hop icon was criticized by several industry A-listers like Lizzo and John Legend. The All Of Me singer tweeted,
“Weird how all these ‘free, independent thinkers’ always land at the same old anti blackness and antisemitism.”
Even the Kardashian clan did not refrain from voicing out their criticism but in a cryptic manner. Kim Kardashian herself called out “hate speech” against the Jewish community, while carefully avoiding naming her ex-husband.
However, West holds no remorse in the face of all the criticisms as he still teases his followers with a cheeky Shalom.
