“She purposely ate like a feast of onions before our scene’: Kate Hudson Clearly Didn’t Like “Worst Kisser” Comment From Co-Star Dane Cook
Kate Hudson has romanced many men on-screen. The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star has featured in her fair share of romantic flicks over the course of her two-decade-long career. And one of her male co-stars is still etched in her memory.
For the wrong reasons though. Dane Cook and Kate Hudson were co-stars in the 2008 movie, My Best Friend’s Girl. The two would go on to share a passionate kiss in the film. But one of them wasn’t exactly left pleased by the other.
Dane Cook could smell onions during the kiss
In 2014, during an interview with Watch What Happens Live, Dane Cook found himself talking about his worst kiss ever. And it was none other than Kate Hudson, who walked away with the honor. Reminiscing the smooch, he said, “I think she purposely ate like a feast of onions before our scene.”
He continued, “I had to burn her on that one!” Mission Accomplished, Mr. Cook.
Safe to say Hudson was not at all pleased by these remarks. But it would take 8 years for everyone to confirm her emotions. On 29 December 2022, the Bride Wars star was made to go through Vanity Fair‘s Lie Detector Test, where she had the chance to reflect on her best kiss of all time.

Kate Hudson responded to Dane Cook’s comments
A lot of names were posed before her. Billy Crudup’s picture came up. Matthew McConaughey’s name also came up. But it was the Good Luck Chuck star whose name elicited the most hilarious reaction. Kate Hudson couldn’t help but make a face when she saw Cook’s picture. Continuing her former co-star’s joke, she laughed and said, “Oh, no … no. Canceled!”
It took her 8 years, but she finally returned the favor. But the show didn’t end there. There was still the question of who was her best kiss ever. And Billy Crudup, her co-star in Almost Famous looked like a possible option. The You, Me and Dupree star said, “I think Billy is a gentler kisser. I wouldn’t say better. Definitely just gentler. It’s a more sophisticated version of a kiss.”
That is indeed quite a compliment.

Comparing Crudup’s kiss to Matthew McConaughey’s in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, she said, “[Billy’s is] like theater, it’s like Stanislavski, and [Matthew’s is] like, Longhorns, you know what I mean?” We surely do, Kate Hudson.
But her best on-screen kiss, without a doubt, was Liv Tyler. The two smooched for the 2000 flick Dr. T & The Women. Safe to assume she didn’t feast on onions before that one.
