Kelly Ripa Couldn’t Give a Lesser Damn About Oscars Ratings Being Down Because Her Post-Academy Awards Shows “Always Have Big Ratings”
Kelly Ripa had been off her show Live With Kelly and Ryan for quite some time due to her illness. However, she seems to have returned at the right time. After hosting a couple of episodes on her show since her return, Ripa seems quite ready for her post-Academy Awards Show. With the nominations revealed on 24th January 2023, people from all over the world seem excited about their choice of celebrities to win. Kelly Ripa seems to be prepared for her after Oscar show along with Ryan Seacrest.
In an interview with Variety, Ripa and Ryan Seacrest spoke about their individual feelings and excitement regarding their show. With Seacrest interviewing celebrities backstage for the first time, and Ripa being unbothered by the downfall of Oscar ratings, the hosts shared quite a lot in their interview. Their excitement for the Academy Awards ceremony on 12th March 2023, was unbound.

Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest are heading to Los Angeles, being all prepared for their After Oscar Show. The tradition of going backstage and interviewing winners has been up for quite a long time, which was actually initiated by New York-based talk shows. This year, finally after the pandemic the Live With Kelly and Ryan hosts are ready with their After Oscar Show.
After the biggest night in Hollywood, Ripa and Seacrest will be heading to close quarters with the biggest stars of Hollywood, along with their golden status in hand. Conducting interviews with the biggest celebrities backstage at Dolby is the greatest achievement for any talk show host. Given the privilege, Ripa and Seacrest seem beyond thrilled.
Kelly Ripa along with Ryan Seacrest will be interviewing the winners and the present celebrities on the night of the Oscar followed by Live the next morning on the Dolby stage with a live audience. This year Carson Kressley, the fashion icon will be the special correspondent on the red carpet. She will be breaking down the looks of each celebrity and their previous night’s glitz and glam discussions on the After Oscar Show.

In an exclusive interview with Variety Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest speak about their favorite celebrities and their expectations from the big night at Oscar. During the interview, Ripa shared the actual reason for Seacrest’s excitement for the After Oscar Show. “Well, let me tell you why Ryan is excited. He’s never been backstage when everybody comes off stage after having just won an Oscar” Ripa shared. She added, “He doesn’t even understand the claustrophobia he will experience when we’re in this little tiny area. It is so small.” While Seacrest stated “That [food] is my priority. Believe me.”
On a serious note, Variety discussed with Kelly Ripa the Oscar ratings and the reason for their decline. Her reply seemed unbothered “It’s so funny that the ratings across award shows always go down and down and down because our post-Academy Awards show, we always have big ratings.”
Kelly Ripa doesn’t seem to bother about the Oscar ratings going down as long as the ratings for talk shows are high. She further shares that people don’t care about the speeches and thanking during Oscar, it’s all about the “fashion and the glamour and what people don’t see on the stage”.
Ripa went on stating “I’m not diminishing their [speeches] importance, but I think that’s the disconnect between why viewership sometimes goes down, versus the post and pre-shows, which get such a boost.”
With Seacrest joking about the food at the Oscars being his priority, and Ripa finding the low ratings of the Oscar to be funny, it feels like the audiences might get to witness a lot more in their After Oscar Show.
