Kevin Conroy is synonymous with the legendary show  Batman: The Animated Series. He went on to set the bar so high that it’s difficult not to imagine his voice with respect to the Caped Crusader. He was not only a great actor but also a supportive co-actor. Boy Meets World actor Will Friedle voiced the character of  Terry McGinnis in 1999’s Batman Beyond series.

Kevin Conroy Saved Batman Beyond: The Complete Series With His Voice Acting Tips

During an interview with Comicbook.com back in November 2010, Will Friedle spoke about legendary actor Kevin Conroy. The Boy Meets World actor confessed how Kevin Conroy helped him with voice acting tips. He said-

First of all, Kevin is a classically trained actor. He’s very professional. I’ve had the good fortune of working with several characters like that, I’d never done an animated series before, and I was kind of slumped in my chair saying my lines. And Kevin started giving me tips. Simple things, but things that really make a difference.

He further continued to say-

For example, he had me sit up straight and showed me how that helps open your diaphragm naturally. Little things you look for in an actor of his caliber like the right ways to play to the page… He was nice enough to take me under his wing and teach me, and I’ll never forget him for that.”

Will Friedle has done voice-overs for Avengers Assemble, Kim Possible, and the Batman series too. Batman Beyond: The Complete Series is based on Terry McGinnis, a teenager who ends up stealing Bruce Wayne’s Bat Suit to avenge his father’s death under mysterious circumstances.

Kevin Conroy Disliked Voicing Batman For Warner Bros.’ Arkham Video Game

Apart from voicing the character of the Caped Crusader in the Batman: The Animated Series, Kevin Conroy was a part of Warner Bros.’s video game Arkham. However, not many people know that the actor did not like voicing the character of Batman for the video game. According to him one of the major reasons was the major difference between the recording process for the game and the animated series. According to GeekTyrant, Kevin Conroy said-

“I didn’t understand how unique it was until 20 years later when I started doing the Arkham games. Because of the algorithms, and how they’re constructed, they have to have each voice completely clean and in your own take. You do four hours a day alone, in a booth, in a vacuum, creating the character, keeping the character’s voice alive, and then creating the situation for each line.

Conroy explained that he had to record in a booth alone which resulted in boredom. He further mentioned-

Then they want it three times, you know. ‘Give it to us angry! Oh, keep that anger and give it to us with a little irony! Oh, we love the anger and we love the irony, now just sweeten it with a little bit of love.’ By the time you get out of there you’re pulling out your hair and you’re going, ‘what the f**k do they want me to say!?’”

Kevin Conroy revealed that in the duration of two years, he had recorded 37,000 lines of dialog for Warner Bros.’ Arkham Knight. With two four-hour recording sessions a day, the tiring process of recording for the game was taking a toll on the Conroy.
