Kim Kardashian Called a ‘Scab’ After Tone Deaf Tweet From American Horror Story Set Amidst Raging Writer’s Strike
Ryan Murphy’s surprise announcement in April that reality TV star Kim Kardashian would appear in the upcoming season of American Horror Story caught everyone off guard. She will appear with Emma Roberts in the newest story in the anthology, Delicate, which is based on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming book Delicate Condition.
At the time, Halley Feiffer, the show’s creator and writer, said she had something fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying for the reality TV star. Murphy said they were thrilled to have Kardashian join their team. Kardashian also stated that she is thrilled to be a part of the show, but fans’ reactions have been extremely divided.
Kim Kardashian was slammed for a tone-deaf tweet from the sets of American Horror Story
The reality TV star and beauty mogul Kim Kardashian, who is now trying to step out of her comfort zone and explore her skills, was excited to be a part of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story starring Emma Roberts.
The beauty mogul tweeted, “Hi guys! I’m on the set of AHS and we have some time between shots. What are you all up to???” to which writers and fans slammed a tone-deaf act as they reacted by saying that while she is ‘working’ on sets, writers are out on the roads protesting for their rights.
Hi guys!
I’m on set of AHS and we have some time between shots. What are you all up to????— Kim Kardashian (@KimKardashian) June 23, 2023
A writer tweeted, “striking in support of our union. Thanks for crossing our line.” While someone else wrote, “As somebody currently cast on a scripted show, you should be standing in solidarity with the WGA because, without writers, you wouldn’t even have a show to be on set for”. Some fans and fellow writers called Kim Kardashian a ‘scab’ which is a union member who refuses to strike or returns to work before a strike has ended, for crossing picket lines.
Another user tweeted, “Kim, this is a beautiful opportunity to show some solidarity and tell us if anyone is making script mods on site.” “You need to get a refund on that law degree, and fire every person that told you it was a good idea to tweet this,” said another.
Kim Kardashian’s casting on American Horror Story was met with mixed reviews
When it was announced that the beauty mogul would soon be sharing screen space with the actors on American Horror Story, people were not happy with it, including Patti LuPone, Sharon Stone, and many more. LuPone, who appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, was asked if she gave a damn about Kardashian’s casting on AHS?
To which she said yes she does and added that she does not like it and explained that she is taking a role away from an actor. LuPone added, “Excuse me, excuse me, Kim. You know, what are you doing with your life? Don’t get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington.”
Sharon Stone, however, mentioned that she and her colleagues have studied and suffered for their art, unlike Kardashian. The reality TV star, however, did not directly react to the criticism she received for casting on the show, but the following month, when she appeared at the Met Gala, she explained that she was taking acting lessons before filming. She said, “It’s really fun to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new and grow. I’m so excited about the experience. … I like to challenge myself.”
Zachary Quinto called Kim Kardashian ‘warm and lovely’
Actor Zachary Quinto revealed that he had filmed a cameo for the upcoming American Horror Story and had the chance to meet the reality TV star whom he called very warm and lovely.
At the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of He Went That Way, Quinto said that according to him, Kim Kardashian does not need his advice, adding that he was impressed by her spirit and openness. The actor lastly added that he is now looking forward to seeing the season because he thinks that Kardashian is going to do a wonderful job.
