Netflix’s upcoming R-rated comedy movie Kinda Pregnant stars Amy Schumer, Jillian Bell, Lizzie Broadway, Will Forte, and more. The filming of the movie began in New York on February 26, 2024, with Tyler Spinder directing it. Julie Paiva penned down the script while Schumer, along with Adam Sandler, Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, Eli Thomas, and Tim Herlihy, are serving as the producers.
Kinda Pregnant, as the name suggests, follows a single woman, Lainy Newton, and her pregnancy. But surprisingly it is not a real pregnancy. After being incredibly jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy, Lainy Newton, who had wanted to be a mother since she was little, starts to wear a fake baby bump and then meets the man of her dreams.
Exclusively speaking with EW, Schumer addressed her choice of roles and described herself as ‘picky.’ She explained,

Amy Schumer mentioned that she enjoyed doing The Humans with A24, but she thinks Kinda Pregnant is like her return to movies because she was waiting for something to say.
Amy Schumer’s upcoming movie’s first trailer was recently released, and despite a comic trailer as expected, it features one emotional scene with Brianne Howey. Schumer shared with People that the two of them filmed a really intimate scene while sitting on a bathroom floor and that was one of the most satisfying days of shooting for her.
The stand-up comedian adds that people shouldn’t be fooled by one emotional scene in the trailer, as the movie is meant to make them cry. The actress who has been appreciated for her comic skills spoke to People, where she explained that society loves to make women feel like they are failing. And Kinda Pregnant shows women as human beings who are trying to make a choice that they feel is right for them.
Amy Schumer also added that the choices are also about having fun along the way. She also went ahead to praise her co-star Will Forte, who plays her onscreen love interest. She said,
The comedian noted that Forte is the funniest person alive, pointing out that now people will see what a great romantic lead he is. Director Tyler Spindel, in speaking with EW, said Kinda Pregnant is not like any other traditional romantic comedy movie; instead, it’s wild and pushes boundaries while still being heartfelt.
Spinder mentioned that the project is like a comedy nerd’s dream. Amy Schumer shared with EW that she had a wonderful time co-writing the script with Julie Paiva, adding that they both wanted to share the same message, which worked well for them. She added that she does not want people to forget the romance in the movie, but according to her, the biggest giveaway will be about finding love for oneself through friendships.
