King Charles Allegedly Planned to Ask Kate Middleton to Get on a Weighing Scale After Christmas Lunch in the Name of Royal Tradition
Every family has at least one bizarre holiday tradition, but that’s nothing compared to the British Royals, who weigh their guests before and after the Christmas feast. Some royal traditions seem to still be alive during the Royal family’s first holiday season without their matriarch, including the wacky tradition of being weighed before and after lunch on Christmas. It is alleged that King Charles III would have asked Kate Middleton and Prince William to get weighed after the Christmas lunch due to their tradition.
On Sunday, King Charles III, the monarch of the United Kingdom, hosted for the first time since becoming king the traditional family Christmas at Sandringham. The King addressed the nation during his first-ever Christmas speech and paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Royal Family Performed The Bizarre Christmas Tradition
According to the British Royal family’s age-old tradition, Prince William and Kate Middleton were asked to weigh themselves after the royal Christmas feast by King Charles III, the new monarch of the United Kingdom. Traditions are the backbone of the royal family, after all.
According to The Sun, royal expert Ingrid Seward, author of Prince Philip Revealed, told Grazia in 2018 that Queen Elizabeth II would ask each of her guests to step on the scales. The activity aims to ensure that the guests have fun and are adequately fed. King Edward VII Originally started this tradition in the early 1900s, and King Charles will carry on the tradition.
It seems odd that everyone in the Royal Family has to participate in this ceremony to begin Christmas Day. The Queen ensured her beloved corgis received exceptional care until she passed away. Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart as Diana, showcased the darker side of this tradition, with the scales serving as a metaphor for her battle with bulimia.
Kate Middleton Greeted Well-Wishers At The Royal Christmas Celebration
Most people celebrate Christmas in the early morning, so the royals do. As the royal family made its traditional Christmas morning outing to Sandringham church, Prince William and Kate Middleton were joined by their three children. The Princess of Wales wore an Alexander McQueen coat during the first Christmas since Her Majesty the Queen passed away in September.
Kate Middleton royally welcomed their well-wishers with dignity, regardless of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s take on the rollercoaster of events during their time at the Palace in their new Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. Middleton revealed on Sunday that she had already been up for hours getting ready for the Christmas church service. The Princess of Wales asked a young girl named India about her morning after receiving a bouquet of flowers.
During the conversation, the 40-year-old Princess joked about the presents given to her,
“I’ve had a lovely morning, thank you very much… quite an early start this morning. They got lots of lovely things, thank you very much.”
Despite the many grievances raised, Buckingham Palace has not officially responded to the Sussexes’ documentary. In the weeks following the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, the royals are bracing themselves for yet more allegations.
