Those who’ve already enjoyed the thrill and fun in the franchise’s fourth installment must be eager to learn about Kung Fu Panda 5. Since the latest film is fresh, not much has been disclosed about when Po will face another challenge. However, director Mike Mitchell did reveal his desire to introduce more aquatic animals and bugs like Mantis in the next film.

Kung Fu Panda 4 Director Wants To Expand Bugs Like Mantis in The Fifth Installment

The Dragon Warrior is back in theatres and fans can’t stop praising how well Kung Fu Panda 4 has turned out after it was highly anticipated. The film features the titular character Po (voiced by Jack Black) leaving the Valley of Peace, only to discover a new and ruthless adversary The Chameleon waiting for him. Unlike previous villains, whom Po defeated easily, The Chameleon is the evil no one can mess with.

The film is generating positive feedback from fans and viewers, while the director Mike Mitchell shed light on Kung Fu Panda 5. Po’s adventure and fights against the villains only become fun and engaging with the help of his close friends, the Furious Five. The primary characters along with the Dragon warriors are Tigress, Monkey, Viper, Crane, and the small yet powerful Mantis.

While talking about exploring new characters for Kung Fu Panda 5, Mike Mitchell said (via Forbes):

“I love it that Seth Rogan’s character is Mantis. And he’s, like, the only bug you see… I honestly think, I mean, just with the Furious Five alone, this franchise can go on and on and on if it wants to. If the fans want it, rather, I should say.”

Who wouldn’t want to see more exciting characters like Mantis in Kung Fu Panda 5, and the director knows exactly how to generate buzz among fans. Mitchell also mentioned adding more “aquatic animals” to the franchise in future projects. The newly released film also depicts Po’s decision to become the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace and find the perfect replacement for him.

Kung Fu Panda 4 co-director Stephanie Ma-Stine Dropped a Hint For The Next Film

It took almost eight years to bring back Po and his friends from the Valley of Peace, and even though co-director Stephanie Ma-Shine hinted at the fifth installment, we wonder how long will it take. However, that’s not the major concern as of now, because fans are currently watching and discussing the fourth film.

“This is definitely not the end of Po’s story. Please look forward to more.”

Her statement hints at the fifth installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and the continuation of Po’s unimaginable journey. During the same event, Black acknowledged the directors’ work and mentioned feeling proud of his fourth movie.
