Queen Woo actor Song Jae-rim passes away at the age of 39
According to reports by Naver, actor Song Jae-rim was found dead at his home in Seongdong District, Seoul, South Korea, at around 12:30 (KST). He was 39 years old, and the publication reported that authorities at the Seongdong Police Station shared that a friend who had made an appointment to meet the actor-model for lunch reported his death. As of now, no suspicion of murder or other crimes has been confirmed.
However, it was later revealed that a two-page suicide note was found at the scene but no contents from the note have been shared yet. Song Jae-rim’s funeral was held at the Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital funeral hall at 5:30 PM. The late actor’s coffin is to be borne out on November 14th, 2024, with a ceremony scheduled for noon.
The actor recently appeared as Go Pae-eui in TVING’s sageuk action series Queen Woo, starring Ji Chang-Wook, Lee Soo-hyuk, and more. The Korean Herald mentioned that the late actor-model was performing a musical La Rose De Versailles in which he played Florian Victor Clement de Gerodelle.
His last performance was on October 13, 2024. Jae-rim’s upcoming projects include two movies, I’ll Become Rich and Death Business, which as of now do not have any release dates. The actor’s former agency upon the news of his death had stated that they didn’t know about his whereabouts after their contract expired last year. He had been working by himself since then.
Fans around the world were devastated with the news of the actor’s untimely demise and they took to their social media to share their sorrows. One user wrote, ‘I just hope you knew how much your smile meant to us.’ Actor Jung Eun-pyo, who worked with Jae-rim on the Moon Embracing the Sun, wrote, ‘Goodbye. I hope you have a happy journey’.
Actor Park Ho-san, who had appeared with him in The Penthouse: War in Life, wrote, ‘Jae-rim. You were such a bright person. I can’t believe it. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry for not being able to contact you and take care of you.’ Fans have also noted everyone needs to focus on mental health, especially actors’, adding that their work puts them under a lot of stress which at times leads to this.

Jae-rim appeared on an episode of TVN’s Life Bar along with actress Yoon Soo Hee, where the host of the show, Shin Dong Yeob, asked the actor-model about his relationship with actress Kim So-eun. The duo garnered a lot of attention due to their closeness on We Got Married.
The actor shared that he was close to So-Eun on the show, as they shared the same goal and their closeness was a part of it. He further explained (via Soompi)
We had a friendship and a common goal: ‘We need to finish filming and go home quickly. So let’s make enough material for the show and go.
Jae-rim had revealed that at the time he asked the actress if there was anything that bothered her, she could tell him and he’d adjust. He added that they still had that kind of camaraderie with each other.
