There is no doubt when it comes to the hit Netflix series Squid Game, of its popularity and how it took center stage last year among viewers all around the world. But since season 1 wrapped up, there has been much anticipation for a second season. The filming is supposed to start soon for the next one as per reports. However, no fixed date or year of release has been specified yet.

And among the various discussions around the possible storyline, character arcs, etc, a new update has come up regarding the cast list. And this time it is seemingly good news for the K-pop fan community as a former South Korean girl group member will be joining the cast ensemble in the upcoming season.

Although it is only an alleged report, Jo Yuri former IZ*One (now-disbanded South Korean K-pop girl group) member is rumored to be joining the Squid Game season 2 cast members. The hit Netflix series has become a household name since its release back in 2021. And with that, the anticipation for a new season has been prevailing in the minds of the fans ever since.

A lot has been out by now regarding small information about it. Man of the original cast members are set to return in the upcoming season along with various new faces. And recently the addition of Jo Yuri to the cast ensemble came to the surface as per Pop Base. She used debuted in the K-pop industry in the 12-member girl group IZ*One in 2018.

However, the group disbanded three years later despite gaining huge popularity among the fans. according to reports, the disbandment followed the termination of the group’s contract with the company they debuted.

The 21-year-old star has since taken up a solo career in singing and acting. She took part in the 2022 web series Mimicus. Although her inclusion in Squid Game season 2 has not been confirmed yet by the production team.

As per reports, the storyline for the upcoming season of Netflix hit series Squid Game will see the main characters played by Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun return to the screen. At a press conference back in 2021, the director Hwang Dong Hyuck confirmed a new season by saying,

“So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say there will indeed be a second season.”

Furthermore, as per All Kpop, the series is set to start filming this summer and will take around 10 months to wrap up. Looking at that, the show will probably be released on Netflix at the end months of next year or the year after.
