Lil Nas X’s Pregnancy Shoot Led to an Internet Meltdown: “Yeah, This Is My Baby”
Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, is a man full of controversies. From pissing off the transgender community by cracking a joke about his transition surgery to his maternity photoshoot, the Old Town Road rapper is always up for a scandal. In this photoshoot, the 24-year-old rapper raised brows as he flaunted his baby bump, leaving fans in confusion if it was an act, or if the thing is as real as it comes.
Did Lil Nas X Get Pregnant?
Lil Nas X caused an internet meltdown, and this wasn’t entirely about music! The 24-year-old Georgia native recently called his stylist and asked for a maternity photoshoot. As he launched his baby bump photos across the internet, fans started questioning if he is pregnant or not, especially when he said, “Yeah, this is my baby.”
But again, the answer to that question is no. In reality, Lil Nas X opted for this photo shoot as an ode to his album, Montero. If you may recall, the Industry Baby artist revealed in a 2021 interview that he was truly inspired by a verse in Megan Thee Stallion’s Dolla Sign Slime. It was then that he decided to create this pregnancy shoot with his stylist.
He famously said, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is amazing,’ so I immediately called my stylist. She was like, ‘Wow, this all comes together. Your album. Your baby.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, this is my baby, huh?’ As a joke, she was like, ‘Yeah, you should do a pregnancy shoot.'” His stylist may have joked about it, but Lil Nas X did it! Here, “my baby” refers to the controversial album.

For the photoshoot, the singer dressed himself in a white flowing robe with a cream rose flower crown, as he cradled his baby bump. He captioned the image, “SURPRISE! I can’t believe I’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy ‘MONTERO’ is due September 17, 2021.” The photos became the subject of trolls and criticism in no time.
Why Did Lil Nas X Face Backlash From Fans?
Lil Nas X is one artist who is adored by his fans, but at the same time, he keeps crossing lines resulting in controversial headlines. In March, the LGBT Black artist def handled a situation and ended up offending his own community. He cracked a “not so cool” joke about his transition surgery. In the end, he had to offer an apology to the trans community.
Lil Nas X came under the radar by once again, upsetting the transgender community. For instance, trans advocate Schuyler Bailar referred to fake pregnancy as “insensitive and irresponsible.” One fan spewed hate commenting, “He took submissive and breedable to a new level fr.” Lil Nas X have a savage response, “Let me get offline, all this negative energy is not good for the baby.”
The rapper may have given us some chart-topping singles via his album, Montero, but he was also called out for promoting Satanism. In the video of his track “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, the 24-year-old artist was seen “sliding down a pole to hell before giving the devil a lap dance.”

While fans called him out, Lil Nas X had a befitting response. He stated that he created the scene to normalize queerness, and said, “I know we promised to never be ‘that’ type of gay person, I know we promised to die with the secret, but this will open doors for many other queer people to simply exist.” No matter what they say, one cannot dictate this rapper for sure.
