Lily-Rose Depp is ready to prove people wrong with Nosferatu

The daughter of actor-musician Johnny Depp and model-actress-singer Vanessa Paradis, Lily Rose-Depp will be seen in a gothic horror movie, Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers. The movie is a remake of a German movie that came out in 1922 and was based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Apart from Rose-Depp Nosferatu, stars Nicholas Hoult, Bill Skarsgård, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, and more. The filmmaker Robert Eggers describes the movie as his passion project and is very excited for the audience to see it. The young actress plays the role of Ellen Hutter in the movie, and a recent clip from the movie that was shared online has drawn attention to the actress’ acting skills.

A user wrote, ‘She’s got amazing acting skills. Just this one scene is enough to prove that.’ Another user commented that it’s for the audience to see Lily-Rose Depp in a more serious role, with a third user noting that she is amazing.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actress mentioned that she does not care how much people want her to fail at whatever she’s doing, but she is set on proving people wrong. She added,

I feel like people have been ready to see me fail, in a way, since I was a kid. That has made me only want to work harder and prove people wrong. Not in a vindictive way at all, but just in a sense of like, fuel to my fire.

The actress mentioned that she wants to prove that she is a hard worker and she’s not here for anything but to work hard. Lily-Rose Depp also mentioned Robert Eggers and shared that he was one of her bucket list directors she wanted to work with. She noted she had not anticipated that she’d be working with him so early in her career.

Lily-Rose Depp also mentioned during the interview that because she comes from a family of artists, she is always under pressure. She added that respecting her parents’ legacy and trying to find her own identity in the world has been interesting for her, especially when people think that she’s in there for the wrong reason. She stayed firm on her stance that she loves acting, and that she’s going to work hard and create her path.

Lily-Rose Depp’s performance in The Idol deserved appreciation it did not get

The actress played pop idol Jocelyn on HBO’s The Idol opposite Abel Tesfaye’s (The Weekend) Tedros. Despite the show being provocative, Lily Rose-Depp’s performance as Jocelyn should have deserved a little more credit than it got. The actress had spoken to Vogue Australia in 2023 and shared,

We know that we’re making something provocative, and we are not shying away from that. That’s something I knew I was setting out to do from the beginning. I was never interested in making something puritanical. It’s OK if this show isn’t for everyone, and that’s fine.

Rose-Depp noted that she had never felt more respected and safe on a set and mentioned that the trust they all built while filming can help in creating that safe environment. The actress added to the conversation that when it comes to n*dity and the risqué nature of the role, it was intentional for her, and she was excited about it. Rose-Depp clarified that she was not scared of it and felt that it was an interesting thing to explore.

A user on Reddit also noted that her performance on the show wasn’t as bad as everyone narrated or wrote a piece about it. They mentioned that it was not her who was bad but it was the show. One user mentioned, ‘She was very good. And you could see her acting depth at the rehearsal when she was calling out for her mom. I wish she wasn’t attached to such a shitty show.’
