The sudden death of Lisa Marie Presley shocked everyone, but she had already made arrangements for her will, which designated her daughter Riley Keough as the only heir to the family’s estate. Now nearly within a week after Lisa Marie Presley’s funeral, her mother Priscilla Presley filed court papers requesting that a judge void an amendment to Lisa Marie’s 2010 trust.

The Elvis and Me actress expressed worry over a ‘purported 2016 amendment’ to her late child’s Promenade Trust. The former wife of American singer Elvis Presley questioned the authenticity of several amendments including her late daughter’s signature on a document.

Priscilla Presley added that “both the 1993 original trust and 2010 restatement appear to be carefully drafted by competent estate planning attorneys.”

Priscilla Presley questions the validation of Lisa Marie Presley’s will

The amendment designated Lisa Marie Presley’s kids, Riley Keough, and her brother Benjamin Keough as co-trustees, which were contested by Priscilla Presley in court documents submitted on January 26 in Los Angeles. She also stated that Lisa Marie Presley executed a revocable living trust, which she amended and completely restated on January 27, 2010,” appointing her and her late daughter’s former business manager Barry Siegel as co-trustees on January 29, 1993.

Priscilla Presley has been pitted against Riley Keough in damning court documents and claimed that she was “removed from her position as trustee and that her daughter Lisa Marie’s “inconsistent signature” was used instead.

In order to set aside an amendment to the late singer, Lisa Marie Presley‘s 2010 trust, Priscilla Presley had to file legal documents. This amendment removed her and her daughter’s former business manager Barry Siegel from the trustee list and added Riley Keough and the late Benjamin Keough in their place.

Her granddaughter Riley Keough would be the only trustee for Lisa Marie’s estate because Benjamin Keough committed suicide in 2020.

Priscilla Presley also claimed that the amendment was never delivered to her and further questioned its legitimacy and authenticity. She went further to point out that the document’s date is also incorrect, Priscilla Presley’s name is misspelled, and Lisa Marie’s signature appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature.”

Previous legal battles

On January 29, 1993, Lisa Marie Presley established a revocable living trust, which she updated and completely restated on January 27, 2010. According to the court document, Nobody Noticed It singer “appointed her mother, Petitioner, and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, as co-Trustees effective as of the date of the 2010 restatement.” In addition, the 2010 restatement states that Petitioner and Barry Siegel will continue to act as co-Trustees after Lisa Marie becomes incapable or passes away. 

The daughter of the Heartbreak Hotel singer engaged in a protracted legal dispute with her first husband, Danny Keough, in 2018. According to Lisa Marie, Siegel put his own financial interests ahead of hers. Later, she called it quits with Siegel. 

According to Priscilla Presley’s most recent filings, she learned about an existing document with an amendment made on March 11, 2016, after Lisa Marie passed away.

The Petitioner [Priscilla Presley] and Barry were both removed and replaced by Lisa Marie Presley as the current Trustee of the Trust under the alleged 2016 Amendment. In addition, the documents stated that Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough would take over as co-trustees of the Trust in the event of Lisa Marie Presley’s incapacity or death.

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, passed away on January 12 at the age of 54. She left behind a rock and roll legacy, and a financial path littered with setbacks and legal battles involving money.
