Just in time for swimsuit season, Sports Illustrated’s latest Swimsuit Issue features Megan Fox and a host of other impressive women (bringing together names like Martha Stewart, Kim Petras, and Brooks Nader).

Although some might be quick to assume Megan Fox has it all, the 37-year-old actress told Sports Illustrated that she doesn’t always feel as confident as she appears. The Transformers actress recently shared her body dysmorphia experience and the difficulties she has had in accepting herself as she is.

Fox even admitted to the outlet that she had never felt convinced with her looks and had been working to change that ever since she was young.

Megan Fox And Her Body Obsession

According to Megan Fox, she has battled with her body image her entire life.

In a video for her new Sports Illustrated cover, which debuted on Monday, the Midnight in the Switchgrass actor discussed coping with body dysmorphia. Although many people view Fox as a s*x icon, she acknowledged that she has battled body dysmorphia constantly. This is a psychological condition in which sufferers obsess over their appearance or what they see as physical flaws.

“I don’t ever see myself the way other people see me. There was never a point in my life where I loved my body ― never, ever.”

Fox then recalled feeling overpowered by her insecurities before she became well-known. “But I should look this way” was one of her childhood obsessions, she recalled.

“And why I had an awareness of my body that young, I’m not sure… The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending.”

The mother of three also discussed how her “clubbed” thumbs, which are shorter, flatter, and wider than the average person, have garnered a lot of attention.

“I don’t know why people are so fascinated by my thumbs. Like, I never thought that was a weird thing or an embarrassing thing. They’re just kind of short. Is it really that crazy?”

The Actress Discussed Having Body Dysmorphia

Megan Fox revealed to the media outlet that she has suffered from body dysmorphia from a young age. Because of her upbringing in a deeply religious environment where bodies weren’t even acknowledged, Fox continued, “It definitely wasn’t environmental.”

She ended by saying that she would probably keep worrying about her body for a very long time.

The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending, I think.”

Fox previously discussed openly dealing with body dysmorphia in a 2021 interview with British GQ Style. During the interview, the Jennifer’s Body actress admitted that she battled “a lot of deep insecurities” about her appearance.
