‘Made a fist……slamming it on the table’: The View’s Ratings Set For Nightmarish Plunge As Whoopi Goldberg Gets Into Fight With Co-Host, Tries Ending Show 20 Minutes Early
Workplace bickering is often always bad news, especially for the parties involved and the organization too. The only beneficiary is a spectator with popcorn who enjoys a good fight. Chat show The View with hosts like acting persona Whoopi Goldberg, has already been on the receiving end of a mighty lot of criticism for a plethora of reasons. More than one of its co-hosts has said something controversial, attracting a hoard of ire. This time, the show seems to be reaching a new low with no sense of coherence, planning, or discipline.
One can assume that co-hosts arguing on international television, or absentmindedly ending the show twenty minutes early spell out trouble and lack of something essential, to say the least.
A heated argument erupts between The View co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin
On a recent episode of the chat show, co-host Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg went almost berserk during a spat, which continued even when the show cut to a commercial. Goldberg made a comment about Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez which ensued the argument. Hostin jibed back at Goldberg, saying: “You’ve had that criticism of AOC for a long time that she doesn’t praise the women who came before,” to which Goldberg replied, “Not praise, she doesn’t recognize or acknowledge.”
While Hostin held the stand that in any conversation she has had with Cortez, the Congresswoman has talked about “standing on the shoulders of those who have come before,” the Sister Act star was firm with her argument that despite whatever she has personally said, Cortez has never acknowledged the inspiring and notable female figures on a public stand. Goldberg said,
“She may have said it to you. You can say, these women, they’ve been there 4,000 years, but I’ve respected everything they’ve tried to do to get us where we need to go.”
After this, the producers cut to commercial but according to an insider report, the ladies continued their back and forth even off-camera. The source said,
“When the women went to commercial break, Sunny continued to fight with Whoopi. At one point, Sunny made a fist and was slamming it on the table. Both of the women made angry gestures with their hands during the heated exchange.”
Monday blues on Thursday news
On another episode of The View, Goldberg’s head seemed to be somewhere else, or maybe she just wanted to go home early…
According to Decider, during the Thursday episode of the chat show, co-host Goldberg mistakenly tried to bid au revoir to the audience 20 minutes before the official signing-off time. The producers and co-host had to intervene and remind her that there was yet more to the show.
Goldberg said, “Next, I wanna say, you all have been a great audience, we love that you are watching. We want you all to have a great day. Take a little–” And then the actor paused when the producers signaled her to, asking “No?”
It was at this moment that even her co-hosts told her that there was still some stuff left for the episode, as Sunny Hostin said, “We got more show.” Goldberg was then asked by Behar to look at the teleprompter. Behar then chimed in with Hostin, saying, “We’re not done!” And Alyssa Farah Griffin informed her seemingly lost co-host that they had to interview Honk for Jesus. Save Your Souls, Regina Hall. Goldberg clearly was at a loss of wits but she simply said, “All right, whatever…we’ll be back!”
It seems like the Monday blues carried on till Thursday for Whoopi Goldberg, but these mistakes and problems are getting serious by the day. The View is in its 26th season and many believe that the show is basically just dragging itself at this point. There has already been a host of backlash for the show’s various co-hosts, be it Griffin or Goldberg herself. Slacking off is just an addition to the list.
