Playing the character of Barbie, Robbie has done tremendous work in helping Gerwig realize her vision of the iconic doll from a Utopian Barbie Land handling the chaos of the real world, onto the big screen.

But leading the female-centric movie to record heights (the biggest opening weekend collection for any woman-directed movie) might still not be the coolest thing in Robbie’s life.

Margot Robbie Is Somehow Connected With Harry Potter Franchise

Barbie’s early performance indicates it’s going to end up registering a tremendous worldwide collection in the long run, but when it comes to racking eye-watering money, the colorful Barbie Land of Gerwig is unlikely to catch the mysterious and magical Godric’s Hollow from J.K Rowling’s books.

Harry Potter’s seven books and eight movies have perhaps earned more money in the literature and entertainment world than any other single franchise. Solely from the film series, the brand has grossed around $7.7 billion worldwide.

The likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint among others have cemented their place in entertainment history with their major portrayals in Harry Potter. Such is the show’s following that even individuals with minor roles are really cherished by its fans.

Basically, anyone who’s connected with the iconic franchise is immensely proud. And anyone who shares any relationship with the connected individual is also equally proud. Now this is where Margot Robbie – a self-proclaimed Harry Potter nerd – comes in.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in 2020, The Wolf of Wall Street star revealed her husband, Tom Ackerley, featured as an extra in 2004’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

“My husband is in the Harry Potter movies,” she told Norton. “I know, I was like, ‘Had you told me sooner we would’ve been married very quickly.'”

Ackerley, who tied the knot with the beautiful Barbie in 2016, was one of the Slytherin extras in the movie and his only act was being pushed by Draco. Such is her love for Harry Potter that even a second long screen time was enough for her to wish she had known this cool thing about her partner much earlier.

Margot Robbie Is a Huge Harry Potter Fan

Robbie, now 33, wasn’t just saying good stuff about Harry Potter (and her husband) for polite reasons.

During the same episode, Norton shared a picture of 12-year-old Margot reading J.K Rowling’s epic book on her birthday. That’s not it though, she was also wearing Harry Potter-inspired glasses in the same photo despite her eyes being completely fine. She added that she lied to her optometrist to get those glasses to mirror a cast member from her favorite fantasy book.

The Australian actress has taken major strides since then, becoming a successful actress in the process. With her latest movie, Barbie, Robbie would certainly hope to become an important part of millions of fans, akin to how Harry Potter holds a special place in her heart.
