Margot Robbie’s Barbie Wins Hearts As Critics Praise Incredible Film
The first reviews for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie have started to pour in. The latest Barbie movie claimed it is for people who love the doll and also for people who hate the doll. So is the adaptation of the iconic toy actually any good? Entertainment Weekly’s Devan Coggan said, “The entire screenplay is packed with winking one-liners, the kind that rewards a rewatch. Never doubt Gerwig.” Ross Bonaime from Collider said, “Barbie balances the incredibly pointed specificity of the jokes and relatability of Lady Bird, with the celebration of women and the ability to show a new angle of something we thought we knew like we saw with Gerwig’s take on Little Women.”
The film has Margot Robbie in the title role and a scene-stealing Ryan Gosling as Ken. Other actors include Ariana Greenblatt, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Dua Lipa, and many others. Robbie was lauded for her incredible acting and has been called the perfect casting choice for the role. Critics called Ryan Gosling “a consistent scene-stealer and a total hoot.” Currently, the film has 109 reviews submitted and 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Barbie Movie Caused A Shortage Of Pink Color Across The World
Ever since the Barbie film was announced, fans and film enthusiasts have been yearning to see their favorite actors as the famous dolls Barbie and Ken. In an interview with Architecture Digest, Barbie’s director Greta Gerwig mentioned, “I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses…We were literally creating the alternate universe of Barbie Land… Maintaining the ‘kid-ness’ was paramount. I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much. The world ran out of pink.”
The film’s trailer shows Barbie and Ken exhausted from days in Barbie land, venturing out beyond the borders of their homeland exploring the modern world which is largely different from their pink safe haven.
