Ruffalo gained nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for movies like The Kids Are All Right, Foxcatcher, and Spotlight. One would think that such a prominent actor would not need to lie for any role. However, contrary to what fans may think, Mark Ruffalo did lie about one major thing to land a role in Ang Lee’s Ride with the Devil.

Mark Ruffalo lied to land a role in Ang Lee’s Ride with the Devil

Ride with the Devil is an iconic revisionist Western film that featured Mark Ruffalo alongside Tobey Maguire, Skeet Ulrich, Jeffrey Wright, Jewel in her feature film debut, Simon Baker, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, James Caviezel, Thomas Guiry, and Jonathan Brandis. Based on the novel Woe to Live On, by Daniel Woodrell, the film was set during the American Civil War. Although it managed to gather much praise, the movie was a major box office bomb. It premiered in only six theaters nationwide in the United States and that too only for three days. Against a budget of $38 million, it managed to gross only a total of $635,096, which was a huge failure.

However, Mark Ruffalo was dying to work with Ang Lee, who has a rich pedigree of classic movies under his belt like Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain, Gemini Man, etc. Now, riding horses is a huge part of the Western cowboy movie aesthetic, and in desperation, Ruffalo lied about being able to ride horses. He probably thought he could wing it but he was sorely wrong.

In an actor’s roundtable on The Hollywood Reporter, the host asks actor Jeffrey Wright if there are any true stories from the movie Ride with the Devil that he did with Mark Ruffalo and Ruffalo opens up and says, “I lied about being able to ride a horse.” Wright added cheekily that he remembered “very vividly” walking past Ruffalo and that he was tied to a fence post.

Mark Ruffalo apologizes after posting a fake picture of Trump on the “p*do plane” of Jeffrey Epstein

Actor Mark Ruffalo was forced to issue an apology to former POTUS Donald Trump over a fake, AI-generated picture of him that was doing the rounds on social media, which Ruffalo reposted. The said image showed Trump in the “p*do plane” of Jeffrey Epstein, surrounded by young girls and Ruffalo reposted the image on X (formerly Twitter) without doing any fact-checking. He captioned the post with the comment,

“Gross. #MAGA wants to paint everyone on those flights as pedophiles except the one guy who smiles in a group of young girls all headed to Epstein’s “Fantasy Island” with him. My bet is there are some decent republicans left in America that may think this is going too far.”

However, it was quickly pointed out by many users that the pictures were fake and were made using artificial intelligence. The X community notes pointed out that the shadows did not match the people in the image, as well as that Trump’s jacket was blurred on one side. In another picture, a girl’s arm was missing.

Ruffalo wasted no time in issuing a public apology but not without taking a jab at Elon Musk and his platform.

“Sorry Folks. Apparently these images are AI fakes. The fact Trump was on Epstein’s plane and what Epstein was up to is not. Be careful. Elon’s X and his allowing so much disinformation here is driving the value of his app down by 55 percent.”

Recent court papers have suggested that Trump had connections with the disgraced p*dophile Jeffrey Epstein. He even visited the Epstein Palm Beach mansion multiple times, according to the housekeeper’s testimonial. However, he never had any massages or spent the night, according to the testimony.
