Marvel has overflowed several compelling storylines in the MCU, but Phase Four of the superhero world could have had a more lucrative and strong narrative which has been lamented by the makers. Considering the snap when Thanos was successful in ruining lives in the Universe by collecting all six Infinity stones, this event had the potential to introduce a powerful anthology series.

Marvel had an incredible chance to craft a diverse and more resonant angle by utilizing the aftermath of the snap. This could have resulted in a billion-dollar idea that includes the consequences and changes faced by people, suffering from the result of the snap. In simple terms, it would have focused not only on the mighty heroes but on humans as well, shifting from Marvel’s typical hero-centric approach.

Marvel Ignored a Billion-Dollar Idea Better Than Entire Phase Four

Marvel has been handling box office hurdles with some of its latest movies after they failed to resonate with the fans. Phase Four began in early 2021, and this was the time when Marvel could have crafted a stronger and more resonant angle, surrounding the event caused by the snap. An anthology series surrounding the consequences after Thanos was able to accomplish his cruel goal would have set Marvel apart from its typical heroic stories.

According to a post shared on X (earlier Twitter), the user suggested a series consisting of a total of ten episodes revolving around different people suffering after the snap. This would have been a stronger project than the entire Phase Four of the MCU. The anthology series could have focused on the world experiencing pain and sudden turn of events in the lives of humans, with each episode surrounding a different consequence.

The post also suggests the themes of some episodes like a plane crash resulting deaths of innocent people, someone who didn’t get to experience the happiness of their birthday, and a child ending up as an orphan after his parents died because of the events of the snap, providing an emotionally charged look.

The Series Had a Potential To Establish a Fresh Break For Phase Four of the MCU

Since fans are demanding more creative and strong narratives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the anthology series was the easiest step for Marvel to take. Considering that MCU does not entirely rely on the books, and is quick to incorporate their creative liberty by creating new origin stories, they had the best chance to utilize this power.

Introducing an anthology series that depicts personal struggles and emotional connections, had a greater chance to resonate with the audience. While enthusiasts are always ready to explore the unexpected in the MCU, this series could have attracted individuals who don’t consider delving into the superhero genre. After learning the incredible idea and the potential of the abandoned billion-dollar idea, fans were quick to share their opinions:

Despite Marvel knowing how to capitalize on greater opportunities, ignoring such a strong angle didn’t sit well with fans. The franchise has been dealing with criticism and backlash in recent years after viewers find it hard to understand the narrative or find the characters less interesting than before.
