New hero to join the cinematic world:

A report revealed the Shang-Chi movie now is set to be directed by director in Destin Daniel Cretton. The fans had a decent surprise in store for them. The Master of Kung Fu is the next hero to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This character was created in the 1970s during the martial art crazes. Some of Shang-Chi’s earliest appearances are criticized for their stereotypical approach. However, David Callaham is set to modernize the script of Shang-Chi to avoid such stereotypical approaches.

Men at the helm:

The men at the helm are Asian-American filmmakers, namely, Cretton and Callaham. The critically-acclaimed film Short Term 12, which starred Brie Larson in her first leading role as Captain Marvel was directed by Cretton. He’s currently directing Just Mercy. It was written by himself. Larson and Michael B. Jordan star in that movie.

Callaham has comic book credentials in his own right. It includes the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984. He worked with director Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns on that. He’s also going to write the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He has created The Expendables franchise starring Sylvester Stallone and other action film icons.

The success of Black Panther has led Marvel Studios redefine its strategies. It is looking at creative talents with the background to tackle diverse characters from their pantheon.

About Shang-Chi:

Shang-Chi is a beloved character in the pages of Marvel Comics. In recent years, he has become a prominent member of the Avengers and the Secret Avengers. The major roles have both Jonathan Hickman and Warren Ellis’ runs on the titles. Shang-Chi has taken a back seat since then. However, with news of a new movie it’s likely that the character will be  brought to the forefront by Marvel.

Release Dates- Shang-Chi:

There has been no official release date yet. With a script in development and a director, it will come in just a couple of years. Marvel Studios has three release dates claimed for 2021. They include February 12th, May 7th, and November 5th.

 

 Master of Kung Fu might make his big debut on one of those dates!
